It has narrow streets and a lot of steps. Plenty of small eateries, bakery's and gelato shops to stop for a snack. It was a perfect place to spend a few hours.

Gene Wilder and Gilda Radner were married here. Marc Chagall lived here creating many beautiful pieces. He and his family are buried in the cemetery at the end of the path. Look for the grave covered in stones to the right. Today, Saint-Paul de Vence is filled with so many art galleries. From classic to contemporary to pop art, it is fun to pop in and out of the galleries.

It is low season for the French Riveria, so most of the restaurants were closed, but quite a few of the retail shops were open. Our guide told us that there is some wine production in this region, but no winery that has wine tasting. We saw some older men playing Petanque in a dirt yard next to a drinking establishment, a game very similar to bocce ball. All the walking trails are lined with a sun motif, using similarly shaped stones.

Shops and galleries ..walled stone town on a hill. It was very romantic and picturesque. Then i smiled to have it mentioned it the 50 shades final book and know that I had actually been there. But we only bought a salt grinder not millions in art like they did in the book :)

Mago was able to accommodate us while showing us Eze, Monaco and Antibes. We learned so much art and history along the way that we have more appreciation for our visit to the French Riviera.
