Scuzzy whirl pool. Green slime on the bottom
SP F.

Operation manager has been gone for over three months. the pool, the spa are filthy. Tried to take a class in the pool and something floated past me. The men's sauna has been broken for three months. My wife tells me the women's locker room is disgusting. The showers are dirty. There seems to be some slime growing on the floor of the whirlpool. The pool has slime on the sides of it. This is a health hazard waiting to happen. In general, there is no concern about maintenance at this location. By contrast the one in Waugh Chapel is a palace compared to this dump. Follow up review - a few weeks later, they hired an operations manager. Since then, the pool and the hot tub has been cleaned. My wife tells me that the locker room and showers are much cleaner.

Staff is rude degrading and belittling to each other in front of potential and current members. The gym is DISGUSTINGLY dirty. All the equipment, from the cardio machines to weights, have a layer of scum and visible grime on them. There is poor air circulation throughout the whole gym especially the cardio area. During one of my first visits a member called 911 feeling faint. The advertising online said there was a smoothie king / juice bar, false! There is a empty space where they may have been one at one point but not anymore! There is a terrible odor as soon as you walk in the door, not your normal gym smell but 1000 times worse...... when we went to cancel our membership the employee never asked why we were cancelling but talked on the phone the WHOLE TIME! Never tried to save the relationship or even cared to lose a membership... DO NOT GO THERE!!

LAF Pasadena has the best zumba instructors! I joined this gym for the classes, but sometimes use the treadmills too.

As a father and legal guardian, I was denied meaningful participation in my son's summer camp experience. I'm a disabled veteran recovering from my second surgery this year, yet I remain actively involved, having volunteered over 120 hours at my son's school and coached his youth sports teams in limited capacities. In June 2025, I respectfully offered to volunteer, noting my Red Cross certification, active background checks (AACPS, Fort Meade CYS), and educational credentials. I received no response. Instead, I was quietly blocked from my son's records, my account was deleted without warning, and I was denied updates, even after repeatedly confirming my legal rights. Over six weeks, I made multiple good-faith efforts to resolve the issue. I sent documentation, explained my guardianship status, and asked for access to be restored. I was ignored. Only after some pro se legal escalation did YMCA legal counsel finally respond, but still, no resolution or response was offered. This wasn't just poor customer service. It reflected a systemic disregard for parental rights and transparency. For someone like me, a Black father to a mixed-race child and a veteran navigating medical recovery and legal barriers, it felt personal and a violation of my parental rights. As of today, September 3, 2025, my responses remain unanswered and my accounts and access to my son remain severed, despite formerly being a paying member. If you're a parent, especially one in a unique family situation, I urge you to advocate for your place in your child's life. Institutions should never get to decide how involved a loving, responsible parent is allowed to be. We all deserve better.

After moving across the country to California, I discovered there were no Gold's Gym locations anywhere near me. Naturally, I called to cancel my membership. I was told that cancellations could not be done over the phone and that I would need to come in person to cancel, despite the fact that I now live over 6.5 hours away by plane. When I explained my situation, the representative I spoke with was extremely rude, dismissive, and completely unwilling to help. Despite multiple attempts to resolve this issue, I was continuously stonewalled by their staff and provided no reasonable solution. To make matters worse, my account was sent to collections for a mere $20/month membership, and my credit score has suffered as a result, all because Gold's Gym refused to provide any legitimate way to cancel my membership remotely. It's clear from reading other reviews that this isn't an isolated incident, it's a pattern of unethical and predatory business practices. . Do yourself a favor and choose ANY other gym except Gold's Gym. Gold's Gym has proven to be dishonest, unhelpful, and completely indifferent to their customers once they have your payment information.

Three years ago, I left an expensive "big box" gym and found Transformations. I'm so glad I did!…read moreThey have everything you need in a gym- classes, equipment, personal training, childcare, etc. all in one welcoming environment. It's become a second home to me and I have met so many great friends. They even have optional Facebook groups for extra support when you need that push to get to the gym. Some of the classes they offer are Zumba, Power (weightlifting), Ride (stationary bike), Fight (kick boxing), Blast (step), Barre and Workout 101. There is something for everyone- from beginner to hard core. You can get a 7 day free pass to try out the gym. They are friendly and not high pressure like some other gyms. When you sign up, you get a free coaching session with a personal trainer to set goals and figure out how to reach them. What more could you ask for?

I went to a Zumba class in Odenton, and I had a blast! Since then I've joined as a member, and I've tried every single group class they offer, and I attend classes in both locations. I have lost over 30 lbs postpartum, going to a variety of the classes like Lift, barre, Push bootcamp, Spin, Fight, Centergy, Primal Yoga, and Zumba. This spring we are doing a 6 week run club and that is the coolest! When my daughter is a bit older I can't wait to bring her to Mommy & Me classes. She makes an occasional appearance at Zumba and it's the cutest! I've even gotten my senior mom to come to classes! As a woman-owned and managed gym, for women, it's my safe space and my happy place! The instructors and staff, childcare, and members are what make Transformations so amazing! And as a former member of some other expensive gyms, Transformations is very affordable! You can work out anywhere, but it won't have the supportive, fun vibes we have while we push each other to be our best selves, with grit and grace. I love my sweat sisters!
