When asking locals including relatives what their favorite bakery is, I thought the response would be Pastelería Ideal but to my surprise it was not. I had heard from a few people (tour guides, Uber drivers, my family) that La Esperanza was their go-to and since I wanted to get my hubby a delicious birthday cake one of my relatives brought me to check out La Esperanza.
As soon as I walked in the smell of freshly baked bread, pastries, cakes etc hit me with an alluring smell. I felt as if I lived in a cartoon with the smell taking forth an entity of its own guiding me to look at many items. My mouth was watering.
I ended choosing a tres leches cake that my hubby in his own words described as the best tres leches cake he's ever had and I stand by that statement as well. We looked at each other and said better than Porto's (Porto's Milk & Berries Cake is still a go-to though) It lived up to tress leches and was sooo moist. The cake flavor was vanilla and center was filled with strawberries, and decorated with some of the yummiest chocolate. I devoted the chocolate flower petals lol
Overall a true gem of a bakery. I would visit again. read more
