Bossa Nova is run by the most wonderful and charming couple and the rest of the staff is equally, if not more, pleasant. If you let them take care of you, you will enjoy the food very much, even though on its own it would probably deserve a 3/5. We had a seafood spaghetti to share as a primi, with a very nice sauce and a good variety of seafood; shrimp, mussels, vongole, cod and more. Pasta was al dente. For a main dish we had pork scaloppine and saltimbocca. Meat was tender, while the sauces had decent taste, but slightly lumpy. There is also a set lunch menu that is very good value for money! Not a big selection of wine on offer (just a red, white and rosé). All in all, if you just want to wind down and feel some genuine warmth while out and about in the more touristy parts of Palma old town, this is the place to do it. This place is tucked away at the end of a road overlooking a beautiful beach about 8-10 minutes east of the the St. Regis resort. I'm so glad I didn't simply fall into the Siren-like enchantment of the St. Regis, and chose to venture out for dinner. The sunset was stunning, but the food... The food was simply amazing. Knowing I would review the restaurant, I ordered a 5 course prix fixe selection at 92€. First came homemade bread, followed by a delicious gazpacho (compliments of the chef). The bread was served with an olive tapenade that was fantastic. Following this was the start of 5 courses with a thinly sliced (cooked) Tuna appetizer served with a purée on top. Great, although a bit on the salty side. Bot suThis was followed by an amazing seared scallops with artichoke purée and topped with Iberian crispy bacon bits. Yum. What came next was a bit left field, but super tasty - shrimp red curry Thai noodles. What?!?!?? Super yum. The main dish of seared pork was good, but here's a great example of "American" expectations. This pork is so dark and so rich I actually had to ask if it was beef! I know, I know. How uncultured, but I'm telling you, it was as dark as beef, as rich as beef, and nearly impossible to decipher. For a split second I thought they actually brought me someone else's plate. Super rich. Fantastic. And then came dessert. I was SO full, and so glad I tried this local fixture.

We were sat on time and given the spiel for the a la carte menu vs the tasting menu and we opted for a la carte. It took 20 minutes after we chose for someone to come back and take our drink order. We asked for the cocktail menu which we did not receive until the manager who originally sat us came back and asked if we were ready to order food. I asked him for the cocktail menu and his reply was "Would you like to order or prefer to wait until I go and get the cocktail menu?" It was not the response I was hoping for so we put our food order in and eventually got the cocktail menu. We sat outside and it was beautiful. We felt forgotten about. There were people at each table and you could tell the food was taking a VERY long time to come out for everyone and that was frustrating. We were very hungry and there was no communication from the staff and it was impossible to get the staff to come over to our table. I would have to turn around and look at the staff behind me. At one point I had to walk inside and ask the manager and waiters if the bread we had ordered 30-40 min prior was going to come out and the manager admitted he forgot to bring that out (3 bread rolls just sitting in a basket). In the end of the evening, there were more staff than tables and it seemed that no one was working at all. Again I had to ask for the check after a staff person had removed all of our plates from the table. I watched the waiter walk inside and then come out and start talking to another table for 10 minutes. I got up and went inside and told the manager to just send the bill to my room. When he proceeded to ask how the meal was, I informed him that the food was great and the service was terrible. In summary, the manager provided excuses to the evening before apologizing but did submit his notes to his supervisor. The supervisor apologized to my husband and I the next morning and gave us a free breakfast the next day. The rest of the food and beverage team for our stay apologized for their poor service. We will not come back to this restaurant.

Friendly, professional and attentive she was part of our delightful experience. Alfonso Lillo, the resident chef, worked with Gordon Ramsey in London and for the Qatari family. Expect amazing food with his personal touch and a dining setting that makes you pause your reality. If you're in Palma and love refined food you will love this.
