I am a professional Magician from the United States and heard about La Cripta Magica from my magician friend who lives and perform in Madrid. I took my sister and two boys (ages 13 and 16) to the 10:30 Friday night show.
1) The venue: In all my travels I have yet to experience a more magical, mysterious, rich and intimate theater. You are transported to another world, appointed with legitimate magical treasures from the past century. Autographed pictures on the wall of previous guests including Lance Burton, David Copperfield and scores of others remind you that you are in the Mecca of Magic.
2) The people: The owner Raymond (Brujulo) and his son Raymond welcome you in like family. They are sincerely happy to see you and will explain any of the amazing artifacts and history of the gorgeous theater. They are unpretentious and warm.
3) The show: I was worried because my youngest son and my sister don't speak Spanish and there is lots of fun participation with the magic. Both magicians recognized this and used gestures and some English so that our group could be included. They made everyone feel welcomed and comfortable. I have seen a great deal of magic in my time and this show represents the art in its highest form. Great plots, funny, and amazing.
Tips: When you book your tickets they will send you a secret password to get in. When you arrive at the address there is no sign, just a mysterious wooden hand carved door. You have to press the intercom button and they will ask the password. Tell them the password and in a moment or two the door will open and your magical experience will begin. read more
