Tasted similar to a bloody mary, but with tequila

My husband and I visited this establishment a few weeks ago in the beginning of June 2019. It was a very chill environment. I loved the decor although it was a little small. Service was good nothing over the top. The drinks were strong and the tapas were quite tasty. We were pretty impressed. Sometimes there's a gentleman playing a guitar, but overall they provide there own music. The ambiance is nice and friendly. I def reccomend this place for couples or small groups. The bathroom was also clean compared to most places. And if it helps my husband is Mexican American so he does speak Spanish and that helped. I don't know how well one could get by without speaking the native language though.

Sad face! Super sad! I was so hoping this place would be awesome, but really it couldn't be worse!

I was so excited about this place, saw a video on YouTube before coming to Guanajuato, couldn't be more wrong. Maybe because I'm white? However, my fiance it's not, even doing a report on this place for school. Let me tell you, whatever you read or saw, it will be different than what you ask, you will not get any special tapas with drinks. However, when a couple, both Mexican and neither white will be told every detail about what you read or watched right in front of you. I have done many travels, this really was B.S! A shot of Centanario was 80 pesos?! Not even in Puerto Vallarta man! Please visit the nice places in the plaza steps away, live music, great service. Please don't come here.

Great place to relax and have a drink... Food (like your eating at your abuelitas) yummy!

This place is awesome

This place has an awesome indie vibe. The music is very mellow, the décor is all old, the people are super nice. Best of all the drinks are cheap. Don't pass this place up

We knew all about the free botanas (or tapas) between 2-6pm, when you order a minimum amount of drinks.

We arrived an hour before sunset on a Sunday evening and got a table immediately (according to…read moretheir Instagram page they do not take reservations). Stroll into the Casa del Rector hotel and the concierge will radio up to check if there is room at the bar for you. Then walk through the hotel and take the elevator all the way up. We enjoyed our drinks and the lovely view. They have some semi-see-through sun screens/shields that cover half the bar for patrons who do not want the sun in their eyes; the staff raise these screens just before sunset. We enjoyed three drinks and an appetizer before leaving for dinner proper. The waitstaff were good. I actually want to give 4.5 stars because the calamari we had was laughably bad and the salad it came with was much better. Nonetheless the beautiful setting was one of the highlights of our trip so I will rank it as 5 - just don't get the calamari!!

Absolutely the best rooftop view and the best drinks during our entire Guanajuato trip, and we'd…read morebeen on at least half a dozen of them. The cocktail menu is not large, but the drinks are inventive and much more balanced (less syrupy sweet, nor shy on the liquor) compared to other places. Prices are a bit higher than most at 180 pesos per drink, but still very reasonable compared to US prices. The bartenders were so very attentive and made sure to get our second drink order as soon as the first was done. The only thing that was a little strange was that their menu QR code took us to their Instagram page. Me being a total dinosaur did not have an IG account and couldn't see the menu, but luckily hubby did. There is a host's stand at the Hotel Casa del Rector entrance to make sure that there is seating to accommodate your party before allowing you to go up. Our hostess did not tell us how to actually get to the rooftop, so we just walked up a couple flights and found ourselves in a completely empty but very pretty courtyard. We found more stairs up across the courtyard, even though it looked like it led to hotel guest rooms and private balconies, then eventually ended up at the top where the pool and bar were. Totally took my breath away at the complete transformation from the busy cobblestone street to panoramic views of the city. Only then did I see the glass elevator that would've taken us easily up here. However, the free self-guided tour of the hotel convinced me the next time I'm in Guanajuato, this is the place to stay in!
