We ate here three times on our visit to Amaseno, which is a hour south of Rome and we'll worth the detour. This restaurant is family owned and the real deal when it comes to hyper local cooking. The cooking is in the style of the "ciociara" which is the style of the local people when Sophia Loren filmed La Ciociara, a famous film from the 1960s. This restaurant is not to be missed. Started with the delicious antipasto plate with local cheeses and meats. Yum! This area is famous for bufalo mozzarella, better known as burrata. Fantastic. Next we had the homemade fini fini (slightly thicker than angel hair pasta), which is unique to this area. It had a fantastic fresh porcini mushrooms on top and is one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. After the pasta (known as the primi or first dish) I had the entree of fresh off the boat of bacala (cod fish) cooked with local olive oil and herbs. Again delicious. We shared a bottle of local white wine. This meal was everything you imagine a small Italian town could offer. I highly recommend it!!! read more
