For mains, we split the Jordanian rice and a couscous dish. The Jordanian rice was simple but came with a nice mix of pine nuts, almonds, raisins, and served with a large amount of hummus. The couscous dish was served with roasted veggies (largely carrot and zucchini) on a large bed of couscous and a side of absolutely delectable soupy marinade that everything was cooked in. Turns out this was much too much food for 2, but our tummies were very happy. Recommended if you need a break of the same old pasta/pizza that are available at most places here.

Al Bagatto has been around for almost 50 years, and it was easy to see why. The food was outstanding. The service was wonderful. We shared: breaded white asparagus with grilled green asparagus, green asparagus sauce beurre blanc, and grated egg yolk; stuffed squid with potatoes, green beans, calamari ragout, pistachio pesto, spring caponata, calamari sauce, and pistachio crumble; paccheri with shrimp ragout, seared shrimp, fava beans, and pea sauce; lasagna with rabbit ragout, pepper sauce, jalapeno sauce, yellow bell peppers, and Parmesan bechamel; and apricot tiramisu. Similarly, the tagliatelle pasta with salmon did little to make itself memorable. I believe that these dishes reflect the Kosher dining experience, but our high hopes were nonetheless dashed by their mediocrity.
