A family operation for decades, the woman who has been in the shop is the wife...her husband is the one who selects the wines (and presumably tends to the other shop in La Bocca??). Obviously I can't speak to their higher priced offerings, as I have yet to try some bottles I bought ranging up in price. However, I am confident that this is a good source for wine. One problem is that parking is an issue if you are driving here. It might be best to come in the afternoon when the Gambetta marché is converted to parking, but I prefer to shop in the morning.

The owner is warm and friendly, has a great selection of wines and goes above and beyond to help you find what you like. Hervé & his son…read moreRomain Sauvage have assembled an amazing collection of wines and are incredibly knowledgeable about all the regional and International wines. When visiting in person, you can often find a case of something that was one of a very limited number. If you are lucky enough to pass by Le Cellier before lunch or in the late afternoon, you may well be offered a taste of one or two special wines including some exceptional white and Rosé in the summer, the perfect aperitif as you make your wine selections. The prices are some of the best prices we have found for great wines, Cognac, Armagnac, etc. and whenever we order or stop by we buy more than we had intended to. If you have the chance to visit the shop, I encourage you to do so. There is a charming pizza restaurant in La Garde Freinet and you can purchase wine after an entertaining and educational conversation with Hervé and/or Rom and then stop for some great thin crust pizza. A visit to Le Cellier will be one of your most memorable moments from any visit to the South of France.

The tour of Chateu Des Selves was arranged by my company while we were staying in Cannes this week…read more The drive was approx 90 minutes from Cannes to the countryside via tour bus, I would imagine by car it would take approximately 20 minutes less. The location is a beautiful estate surrounded by grape vines and olive trees. It had the most beautiful views of the mountains and trees. The staff were friendly and welcomed questions. The wines are all made onsite with their own grapes, the olives are grown and made into their own olive oil. The wines were terrific, one particular red was outstanding (pictured) The olive oil was just as delicious along with local cheese. We were able to thoroughly enjoy the experience and make tapenade while we were there. If you have the chance take the tour and experience what they have to offer.
