The new venue comprises a small bar area opening onto Plaça dels Cotxes. Go through the bar and you turn around the corner into two long rooms, with impressive brick-lined barrel-vaults, in which table service is offered. The beautiful brick arches are worth a drink just to look at the interior. (One of the arches is a no smoking area). The bar offers has the same impressively wide range of beers as the original venue, including an extensive selection of bottled German beers in different styles, including Dunkel (dark), Hell (light) and Hefeweizen (cloudy wheat beers). Prices for these imported beers are very reasonable at around EUR2.00 for a 33cl bottle. They also serve a decent range of Spanish style bar snacks, including hot and cold sandwiches, tapas, burgers and the like. They have TV screens in each bar, and it has already become a very popular venue for locals to watch football matches when Barcelona are playing

Apart from the name, the interior decor of orange, purple and yellow, with black ceilings, swirly patterns above the bar, lotus motifs, paper lanterns and a range of happily unmatched furniture reinforces the 60s ambience. Service is friendly and laid-back, too! It's a popular place with a wide range of clientele, many of whom sit outside under the trees in the square in the summer. It's a popular place to eat, too, though we haven't sampled the fare. Beers are good value, at around EUR2 a bottle (33cl).

There are no tables, but a wide ledge with bar stools runs around the outside walls. Run by a friendly husband-and-wife team, it tends to get busier after 22.30h and attracts a slightly more mature crowd of mostly local regulars. There's a TV screen, mostly showing Spanish news and sport, but they also show music videos - classic pop and rock from the 1980s. Beers include the San Miguel range, with Guinness and Heineken on tap. They do nibbles (crisps, etc) but no other food. The whole bar is kept spotlessly clean, including the toilets, which are - quite literally - the cleanest I have ever seen in a bar or pub.

It sells the usual range of drinks, as well as a simple menu del Dia (Daily menu) of three courses with a drink for around EUR9, as well as a menu of light meals, pizzas, sandwiches, tapas and other snacks. Drinks prices are low - thanks to it being completely untouristy (it's situated a mile inland): bottled beers are under EUR2 each. Service from the owners is friendly, too. The only downer for me is that a few of the clientele seem to smoke something resembling old rope, so it's better when it's quieter.

Decorated in red and black, it has something of a heavy rock / metal theme, augmented by posters of groups such as Iron Maiden and AC/DC. L'Avern is actually 'Hell' in Catalan, so the theme seems pretty consistent. That said, the music is not too intrusive if that's not your thing, and the staff were very friendly. Other customers seemed to be a mix of rock, goth and studenty types - and also friendly (a few politely moved so we could get to the bar, without being asked, which made us feel welcome). Prices were also very reasonable for beer and other drinks. The entrance is up a few steps and the lavatories are on the first floor.

Which was needed the evening of our visit, as it was very windy. We had dinner one evening while staying at the hotel, reservations at 8:00 pm (20:00) they are also recommended especially on the weekends. We were greeted walking in and seated by the windows with a spectacular view of the city as the lights around the town lit up. Our server was professional and attentive, we started with their version of Buratta, it was very traditional, nothing fancy but quite tasty and fresh. Large slices of tomato, a nice portion of fresh mozzarella, topped with arugula and an olive oil drizzle. We were wanting some light tapas, and went for the Hummus with black olives, and an assortment of fries, chips and crackers. The hummus was delicious and very fresh and the dipping assortment was a nice additional. A couple glasses of wine to go along with our meal rounded out a nice evening. We opted for some sweet treats at the end, and we tried the chocolate cake and the tiramisu with fresh strawberrys and grapes. The chocolate cake was more like a lava cake than a torte and very good, the vanilla ice cream made the dish. The tiramisu was light creamy and fresh, the fresh fruit added a nice balance to the dessert. All in all, a world class view with good food and drink options, service is professional and on point. 4 Stars if you are not a guest of the hotel its worth the time to park and ride up the elevator and reservations are encouraged 01071

Salou is a very lively touristy beach town and the patio cafes can tend to be loud, not just because of the crowds but also because many are right next to the street and there tends to be a lot of traffic noise. Café del Far is an escape from the tourists and the traffic noise. The owners are from Argentina and are super friendly. I was on vacation with my daughter and we came back a second night and were treated to a couple of free shots. They go out of their way to make sure your experience is enjoyable. The pizza is a good escape from the same ole tapas you get all over Spain it seems like. Highly recommended and I would definitely return again next time I'm in the area.

Located on the small tree-lined square at the southern end of the pedestrianised shopping street of Carrer Caputxins, it's actually a bar-restaurant, serving traditional Catalan tapas, sandwiches and snacks, as well as drinks. However, what grabs the attention behind the bar are the long rows of beer bottles. While some are clearly just there for show - a bottle collection, in fact they also sell the widest range of beers we've found in Vilanova, with around 25 different types on offer. As well as Spanish beers, there is an impressive imported range: Belgian, German and Dutch lagers, including strong (and delicious) Trappist beers (up to 10% ABV) one is appropriately called 'Satan', although this was 'only' 8% ABV. They also sell bottled London Pride from Fuller's for those feeling really homesick. There's also Guinness and two continental lagers on tap, including Affligem. The bar has a loyal, mostly younger following, and in summer has seating outside in the square.
