Getting here is half the fun, about 1-1/2 hour drive and the scenery is like night and day. From the hustle and bustle of the suburban city that Adrogue is to the farms and countryside that is Uribelarrea. We decided on this particular restaurant for its popularity and good food, and I must say that the inside decor is like a step back in time. From walls to ceiling it's like an antique shop, I even saw a motorcycle and a Vespa style scooter on the upper shelves. So now let's get to the specifics of the place. Plenty of roadside parking outside. They have and outdoor seating area with wrought iron tables and chairs for those sunny warm days. Beer orders were placed along with the our choices from the menu. Two orders of the rotisserie chicken with baked potatoes in an olive oil sauce with carrots and onions. An order of vegetarian vinaigrette and cheeses and a Loin stroganoff. The food came out in no time, as a matter of fact it arrived before the beer hit the table. I had the chicken dish and the meat pulled off the bone like butter, tender and juicy. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Definitely worth the trip. I'm going to have to bookmark this place for my next visit down south.

Nothing seemed more authentic than the big parrilla (grill) that greets you when you enter or the fact that the place doesn't open for dinner until 8pm. A meal in this clean, somewhat industrial-looking space begins with empanadas and chimichurri arriving automatically at your table thanks to the small "cubierto" (per person cover fee, not a tip, of about $2.50 per person). Given the late dining hour I resisted over-ordering, knowing that I didn't want to go to sleep stuffed to the brim. Rib-eye was my choice, along with wine and beer, with the whole thing coming in at a pre-tip price of $90,100ARS (about $63USD). It was a perfect meal that still filled me succinctly and as I left I couldn't help but feel for all those still waiting to enter the restaurant at around 10 p.m. Parrilla Peña proved to be a great and authentic choice for a solid parrilla experience. I went on to have similar meals for more money a couple more times while in Argentina but it was here that I thought the experience most authentic, being enjoyed more by locals and only a handful of in-the-know tourists such as myself.

Unless you know exactly what you want, and you can eat a ton, I would recommend going with the sample platter option. You get a ton of food, so don't worry, it's more than just a sample. You can always sample more. First of all, don't make the same mistake that I did. Do not get filled up on the bread or anything that they bring. You don't have to finish it all. Wait for the meats at the end. I can't go on to tell you which meat is the best, they were all phenomenal. It's going to be a choice of personal preference. We decided to get a nice bottle of wine, which was called Saint Felicien. It was a delicious small bag that paired beautifully with the meats. The ambience is incredible here. So lively, I could imagine what it would look like during a soccer game. People were all super friendly, and it just has a great vibe to it. The kind of food hall seems that you see in the movies where everyone's having a blast and talking to their family and laughing all about well enjoying great food.
