Most hardware stores in Tj kinda suck, even Home Depot, although it has a big selection it doesn't…read morehave a lot of options, and is extremely overpriced compared to its US counterparts, not to mention out of the way. Fara on the other hand is centrally located, has a failry large selection for its size, decent prices, in addition to all the normal hardware store stuff they also have a decent sized selection of used commercial (and a few domestic) appliances, and parts to repair them too like motors and compressors, they also have a small selection of restaurant stuff, plates, glasses, coffee pots, etc. Some pet supplies, dogs, chickens, horses (i think). Chemicals from pretty dangerous like caustic soda and hydrochloric acid to the fairly benign things with 100's of uses like borax, and sulfur powder in bulk, and if all that wasn't enough, right outside they have tacos and transvestites 24/7-if thats your sort of thing!
I remember, many moons ago... when I graduated from elementary school (primaria) and secondary…read moreschool (secundaria) I came to this store to buy fabric and all the puffy stuff to have a dress made. I also came here a bunch of times to buy fabric for school dances/recitals/plays all of that fun stuff. They have tons of fabrics here, and they're good quality too. It's rather small in comparison to the other fabric stores around the city, but what matters here is quality not quantity. Another good thing about Telas Costa Azul is that it's a one-stop-shop for making dresses. I'm not that familiar with the actual names of the things you need, but things like string, patterns, pads, etc. You also have the option of purchasing an entire roll of fabric (for large parties.... or a reaaallly big puffy dress) They are open monday through sunday which is amazingly convenient. Their hours do vary though, so make sure you check out the times or give them a call to make sure they're open when you come.
