**DISGRACEFUL**…read more This groomer arrived, and was greeted by my wife. After my wife introducing herself, she asked what this lady needed to get started. She asked for power and water, which was provided to her. My wife then gave her one of our 2 dogs (small maltese/shih tzu and a small cavoodle). Shortly after this groomer told my wife that there was a problem with our power source, and that she wouldn't be able to do the job. My wife then plugged the extension cord into another power point, which was simultaneously powering our television (which was on, and working at the time) so it definitely worked. The dog groomer claimed to still not have power. My wife asked for my assistance, so I went and introduced myself to the groomer. She said to me, "Theres no power, what do you want me to tell you?" I asked if it was possible her equipment may be faulty? She assured me that it was working fine from her previous job. As our dogs very much needed to be groomed (Because we waited over 3 weeks for her to get back to us, because we wanted to give her the business, as she was referred to us) I searched for a suitable extension chord of mine, to use. I checked it, power was being supplied through the cord. As I was doing this, she decided that she wasn't going to do the job (most likely because there was NO power issue, and she knew that I was about to expose her LIES). She had dumped my maltese dog over the gate, and threw his collar on the floor, and was packing her gear up. Not really the behavior of someone who apparently loves animals. When I produced my working extension cord to her, she wouldn't even try to see if it worked, as she obviously didn't ant to do the job. All she could say to me was, "You are obviously angry," as she continued to pack up. I reassured her that I wasn't angry, I was far from angry, I was just confused as to what was happening? All she kept saying was, "It wasn't meant to be, you are obviously angry." I looked to my wife, assuming she must have told the dog groomer to not worry about the job. My wife was just as confused as I was. I asked her, "Don't you want to do the job? What is the problem? Do you wan't to try my extension cord?"She then claimed that I was intimidating her, although I had only about 15 seconds of interaction with her, mostly spent fetching an extension cable for her to use. Something that I found to be highly insulting. All the while, her personal dog was left to run around and roam in our yard, and into our back yard - highly unprofessional in my opinion. I have a 1 year old baby, who could have very well been in the yard playing. My problem with this particular groomer, is not the fact that she didn't provide any service, it's the fact that she couldn't tell me the real reason why she wouldn't perform her job. If my dogs were too much for her to handle, or if they nipped her, or if she thought the job was going to be too much of a task for her, I could have copped that. I'm a reasonable human being. I'd rather her not attempt a job if she isn't capable of doing it. However, she blamed MY power supply, even though I had provided adequate power to her, which was tested, and in working order. All I wanted to know was why she wasn't interested, and we could have avoided such a negative experience. From the minute she arrived, it was as if our job was an inconvenience for her, and she was looking for an excuse to can the job. We were referred to this company, from a long time loyal customer of hers (my mother). My mother was shocked to hear the way that she treats her referred customers, and like us, will not be using her again.I guess in life, you get what you pay for. For Tails and Whiskers, I didn't pay anything, and I most definitely got nothing from her, except a horrible and confusing experience. I should have stuck with my regular groomer, who although is a touch more expensive, always provides top quality service, with a smile. Something that Tails and Whiskers appears not capable of providing. I'm not in the business of slagging off a company online, however I would feel bad if another potential customer received the same rubbish treatment that Tails and Whiskers provided to my wife and I today. When she arrived she helped me with advice on what hair cut to do for a wee black puppy in summer and how to keep up with his regular brushing and nail clipping at home. She even let me hang out so I could get some tips on how to hold him when I brushed him. He's looking cute as all get out now and seemed to enjoy his little pamper sesh. I recently found A & S Grooming Salon at Carseldine who offer a $5.50 weekend hydrobath special. At A & S your precious pooch will be pampered with a bath and blow dry, style cut and have his/hair nails clipped and ears cleaned. The prices are pretty high starting at $50 for small dogs like Chihuahuas and Pomeranians and up to $90 for bigger breeds of dogs such as a St Bernard or Newfoundland (more expensive than my last style cut!). A mini groom (which is what my lovely Staffy, Rani experienced on her visit) will set you back $35 which I think is pretty good value.

I like to get out and about early to get stuff done on Sundays so I can spend the rest of the day relaxing. Oh gosh I really am becoming an elderly lady... Staff here were very helpful - we were wandering around looking at leads and harnesses for our little sausage dog. One of the ladies from the Dog Grooming section came out and offered help to us (and a pat for our pooch). Whilst they didn't have what we needed in stock - they did offer to order it in for us! Very handy. I released my boisterous doxie into the hands of the groomer to have his nails trimmed. Only a few minutes later, he was carried out to me nibbling on a treat and sporting an adorable yellow scarf he was awarded for being well behaved. My dog well behaved? Not likely. But I appreciate the fib from the groomer and the attention she paid to my precious pup. (Yes, I'm a crazy sausage dog lady). Will definitely return.

No. Pet shop fish, bettas at least, always look so poorly, and they're kept in those tiny enclosures. Look. I get they can survive in a small space. But so could you if you were locked in a cage you could barely move in. Would it be a pleasant experience? Anyhow, that aside, they are pretty well stocked with aquarium supplies and live plants. I picked up some plant for my tank, and signed up to the membership club. They email you a $5 voucher on signing up, a $5 voucher on your pet's birthday, and you get a voucher on your own birthday too. Given that they close at 6 on weekdays (yes! can pop in after work!) I was back again to use my voucher, served by the lady whose picture is on it too. The staff were friendly, it's a huge store with a huge range, I'll be back.
