You have to know that you want to go to this place and track it down. It's a small 30 seat restaurant.  Three wait staff. Two spoke very good English.  The other more French with a little English. Menu only in French, but the staff were more than willing to translate.  Karen had a Hugo spritz (excellent) and I had a very smooth French whiskey. We both shared the burrata app.  Great burrata with shaved cucumber and xxxx around the edge of the plate. Very good. For our main plate, we both had the seabass with side of vegetables.  The bass was done to perfection.  Our server specifically mentioned that the chef recommended that we eat the skin (lightly browned to a very nice crisp).  We agreed with the chef's recommendation and we were not disappointed.  But as good as the fish was, the vegetables took an equal place on the plate.  A mix of snap peas, green beans, broccoli, cauliflower and carrots with each vegetable cooked slightly a little more than al dente.  But for me it was the attention to detail with the vegetables that really made this dish for me.  There was the standard broccoli, but also broccolini.  There was white cauliflower, but also purple cauliflower. Many chefs would have been happy with just putting standard pieces of regular broccoli and cauliflower on the plate.  But Chef here decided on the extra touch with the purple cauliflower and broccolini. Small detail, but major message about the passion of the chef. We had a white Entre deux mers from Chateau Haut-Rian. We love a white Bordeaux, but especially from the Entre deux mers region.  It paired very nicely with the fish. Desserts of Pain Perdu (French toast atop a caramel sauce) and a chocolate cake thingy for Karen, accompanied with two cafe allonges. We made reservations for 6:30 and we were two of about eight people there.  By the time that we finished our dinner, the place was jam packed with people waiting on the street to get in.  There is no wondering why.

I'm not sure why they only get a 3.7 on Yelp. This review of those reviews may come across as…read morearrogant or rude, but I'm neither of those two. What I am is someone that believes good food, well good "anything", should be praised. I don't agree with most people's opinions about the quality of good food. In fact, one restaurant that I went to twice in Fort Lauderdale, Florida was absolutely one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to, yet they received the award for best restaurant in the city! Don't ask me how, unless they bought the award, because I went there twice, once with two guests and once with one guest, and on neither occasion could anyone eat their meal. EVERYTHING was so salty it was inedible. And I only went back the second time because people kept telling me their experience was great. But after spending over $500 between the two visits, I will never go back. Now I know that food, like art or wine, or almost anything is subjective, even mine is subjective. But with all that being said, we were in Paris for 4 nights only, one of which we didn't even eat dinner because we had such a late lunch. So out of the three nights we ate dinner, two of them were spent with Christian at Le Jardin St Germaine. Christian is part owner/host at Le Jardin, and his easy approach and recommendations is part of the charm of this restaurant. It only seats 30 people at any given time, there is no loud music and never a rush to order or leave. Now I know they don't need my review, because on any other site they get a 4.9 rating. Not sure what's wrong with my fellow Yelpers. And I have to say they truly deserve a perfect score. From the easy ambiance to the quality of their dishes and desserts, they deserve a perfect 5.0. We ABSOLUTELY LOVED the place! We had the sea bass and ribeye for our main course, and the calamari for a starter on our first night. Everything was literally perfect. The French toast dessert was incredible as well. The wines that Christian suggested paired perfectly with our meals, and the after dinner French whiskey was deliciously smooth, almost like a fine cognac/high end scotch blend. The second night was equally as wonderful. We had a simple green salad and the prawns for an appetizer, and then the chateaubriand and the sea bass again. Yes, the bass was THAT good! As was everything else we ate there. Please pay no attention to the low rating some people give them on this site. I didn't read any of the complaints, but I can assure you they truly aren't accurate. This will be, in my humble opinion, one of the nicest dining experience you will ever have in St Germaine. In fact, it will be one of the top reasons we return next year. Try to make this one of your dining experience, you won't regret your decision. And I apologize, I didn't have my phone on me so I didn't take any pictures. My bad!

I showed up at 2 pm, so they were out of a few items, including the steak. Sigh. I started with a glass of excellent house wine and the pate. The pate had pieces of fruit in it. It wasn't the best or worst I've had. Then came a very well cooked piece of fish over a creamy beurre blanc sauce. Then, the clafoutis was slightly warm and had a wonderful, silky texture. It was a tad sweet for my liking, but the cherries were divine.
