MM has a moniker: the Cubist Acropolis ( thanks Picasso!!)
My, did I seriously walk this very real hill today! Started at the cemetery where Dalida is laid. Nosy nosy Jana wanted to scout out all the private passages (they're locked with a gate), the über $$$$ Hôtel Particulaire and Terrasse, all the nice restaurants and such. It's so much fun walking hills and spotting all the peekaboo views once one gets to the top. The historic farming windmills, the cobblestones and narrowed small lanes, the kids at school holding hands in pairs, headed to a school field trip. It's all quite provincial in Montmartre, and it has come to be one of my favorite places in Paris to walk. Simply like Notting Hill, north of Hyde Park.
It touches me, walking about. Great feeling of small town living. read more
