I am compelled to write this review because in our 17 days in Italy, this was the ONLY negative experience we had.
We saw their sign saying everything is fresh, and settled down for lunch at the antifeatro. We ordered a liter bottle of still water, prosciutto with melon, and a pizza to share between me and my wife.
There were two waitresses bussing the tables, a bartender inside, and kitchen staff. At one point we saw the chef and owner (later recognized as such) come out and have a leisurely smoke, while chatting with people from nearby stores.
After about 35 minutes of waiting for anything to arrive, we hailed the waitress - she barely wanted to acknowledge us - and asked for our food. She said "Arrive" and handed us two plastic packaged breadsticks! Another 10 minutes goes by, and still NO food comes - by now 45 minutes have elapsed and except for the water and packaged breadsticks, NOTHING comes out.
So we wait another 5 minutes and then leave, leaving an euro for the water - it's price was 3 euros. Then the waitress comes running behind us - saying we cannot leave - the pizza has not come out because the oven is broken! REALLY? Do you need the oven to prepare the prosciutto and melon dish as well?
At this point the chef-owner also comes out, really angry, and tells us to go back where we came from (we are of Asian Indian origin, from Los Angeles - I suspect he thought we came from Southasia or some developing country - for he said "You may do this where you came from, but not in Italy!"). He shouted that if we did not come inside and pay, he would call the police.
At this point, we decided to go back, pay the 3 euros for the opened bottle of water, and leave. The bartender would just shake his shoulders when we said NO food came out for 45 minutes.
This is the single worst restaurant experience we had on the 17 day trip to Italy, and perhaps the worst experience we have had in the last 10 years eating at a restaurant! read more
