You can't just order an entree you have to get the full experience of ordering the starter, entree then dessert (per person) and you should end your meal satisfied. We had a great dinner and would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who's visiting Lyon and wants a unique and delicious experience.

The setting is beautiful, but in a less-than-ideal part of town. There's valet parking and the service is friendly. The wine and cocktails were good, too. My husband got the foie gras, beef, and pecan pie, and I got the choux, beef, and chocolate dessert. They were all tasty, I'd say a good value. My only complaint came when we paid the bill: We both ordered the beef "rossini" but were served the regular foie gras-less version - which wasn't a big deal, we took what we got. At the end of the meal, we were offered two glasses of champagne to make up for the error, which I thought was a nice touch - until we realized when we got home that we paid for them! It sort of puts a bad taste in your mouth when you pay €24 for something you didn't ask for and didn't get what you did ask for... Overall a positive experience, but now that I've finally been, I don't think I'll go again.

A small restaurant off the beaten path with market fresh ingredients, the menu changes daily based…read moreon the daily purchases. My wife and I enjoyed a stellar dinner there. The chef came to the table and explained the preparation of each dish. (English, German or in French) Not expensive with very good wine options. We highly recommend. We have been to the best French restaurants in Paris and New York and we rank Le Tibouren up there with the best with out any pretense. Worth a visit!!!

I think that if you are a meat eater, this place is good - maybe even great. But if you are a…read morevegetarian, it's not worth the price. Here is my experience. First, I will preface this with the following story. Despite asking my French friend to make sure the restaurant knew there were two vegetarians in the party while making our reservation, he failed to do so. However, when we arrived and the chef was told, he said it was no problem as long as we ate eggs and mushrooms. We both agreed that we did and the show went on. The chef comes to your table to explain the day's menu to you. That's pretty cool. He even speaks English so he can explain it to you in multiple languages if you ask nicely. You select an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert or cheese plate. The total cost per person is 26€. They also have apéritifs, digestifs, and wine that will, of course, raise your tab considerably. My appetizer was the vegetable soup sans whatever cephalopod was normally added at the last minute before being served. (The chef said it was like squid but not exactly the same.) This was pretty boring. I think I make a better vegetable soup at home. Next came the main course, which for us vegetarians, consisted of a lightly scrambled egg with mushrooms and fresh herbs and all the sides that the other plates received: pureed sweet potato, a turnip stuffed with a tomato and cumin mixture and some chevre, roasted red peppers, scalloped potatoes, and two blinis. The least interesting part of the meal was definitely the egg mixture as it just tasted like egg with a few herbs and chunks of mushroom. The other components were all tasty, though I felt there was too much cumin in the turnip as it bled over to all the other parts of the dish. For dessert, I chose a mango cream option served on a thin sponge cake with a raspberry sauce. This was very light and not my favorite dessert. I didn't even finish it, which is rare as I love sweets. My husband and most of the table ordered the cheese plate and seemed quite happy with it however. Maybe that's the way to go at Le Tibouren. I may be willing to try this place again later, making sure the chef is aware of my dietary choices when we make the reservation. I'm not sure if it would make a difference or not but I would certainly give them the chance. If that happens, I'll be sure to update my review.
