I recently took a friend from Chicago to La Bodeguita de Luis. It is a place that I go frequently because of its cozy ambiance, attentive service, and great food. I was delighted at how impressed my friend was when the owner greeted us at the door and then came to our table to chat for a few more minutes. As you walk in, you see a wall full of a fine selection of wines made by high quality producers from great global regions. On this night we chose a bottle from the vineyards of Spain. Aside from the wine, the restaurant is known for their fresh caught fish and lobster. Their "mamposteao" rice was moist and delicious and the whole red snapper we ordered was presented beautifully, perfectly seasoned and cut in slices for everyone to share and enjoy. It was a Thursday night, and the place was booming with laughter, camaraderie, and live music consisting of a saxophone player who filled the air with everything from old school salsa music, boleros, and American classics. When we left for the evening, the owner once again approached us, and wished my friend safe travels. I would recommend La Bodeguita de Luis to anyone who loves great fresh food, wine, and a welcoming environment. I assure you, it will become a favorite go-to place for an enjoyable evening. read more
