This is a real bar with really good music and authentic staff and a great selection of drinks. The bar often has DJ´s playing. One on my favorite bars in St. Pauli. It is a sort of insider tip if you want to experience the real St. Pauli spirit. It´s location just off the Reeperbahn is easy and ideal to reach. Hopfenstrasse has several other very authentic bars next to Gunclub. I will be back.

There are four bars placed next to each other and they offer everything from surf to punk rock music. The Gun Club often has DJs and the music they play is mostly rock and punk rock. However, last night I was out around the Reeperbahn and everywhere was dead, then we noticed that there were actually people in here, so we entered There's a little stage near the door, behind which was a blackboard proclaiming: Tonight playing live: Eric and indeed he was. Classic guitar tunes of the past 30 years seemed to be his act, and he was pretty good. From Eagles to Cat Stevens. He did have an annoying habit of changing the lyrics to try and be funny, but mostly that was ignorable. The bar itself was full of old people - I felt positively teenaged in there. A Becks was EUR2.90, but it was alright with the entertainment. I still wouldn't choose to come back here if everywhere else was open, but it's better than I thought it would be :)

I went there on a Tuesday night, and amazingly enough it was kinda full…read more i mean not jam packed, but there were around 10 to 15 people there and Eric was singing and playing the guitar! funny guy, i enjoyed my time. his repertoire consists of songs from last century, 70s, 80s and 90s songs. not bad for a tuesday but i am not sure id like to spend my saturday nights there since it could be VERY full on week ends.

Weird mix of people: on one hand, the grungy rocker types and at the same time, young yuppies, wearing the standing collars and Burberry scarves. Really odd but at the same time amusing. The staff think they are tougher than they are working in a place like this but it fits the goal of the bar. Really tight quarters when it fills up but the vibe is good. If in the area though, a good place to grab a drink and have a couple laughs. You'll definitely not regret it even if this isn't your thing.
