The Hair Masters team take the time to add a little extra in everything they do and make you feel pampered - the complimentary beverages to the follow up text message the day following your appointment makes you feel valued as a customer. Louisa is my regular hairdresser and has been excellent in bringing to life my hairstyle requests!

I find this place one of the few well priced salons in the CBD. The staff are always friendly and…read morewelcoming. My first time here was great, my colour was perfect as was my cut, but my second experience left me leaving disappointed and I felt like I'd been tricked into paying for more services than I thought I was agreeing to. Turns out I had the head stylist on my second visit and she is very pushy. While she does a great job at my colour, she always offers her opinions in a way that makes you feel inferior. Plus she is very good at sneaking in extra charges. I went in with a booking for a whole head of foils, I get 2 blonde to 1 dark brown. As I was telling her this, she jumps in saying who about instead of the dark brown, we go with a caramel? This sounded good and I agreed to it. When I got to the register the total was well over $230! The whole head plus cut and blow dry is only $185. It turns out she did a whole head of foils blonde and coloured the rest of my hair caramel. Two different treatments! After this experience I was hesitant to go back, but I did and this time I made sure I was very specific with what I wanted and it worked. I managed to tune out her advice (thinly veiled comments about hair damage to get you to buy products) and I got what wanted. They have good prices and a good service, just be prepared to be very specific if you want to stick to a budget.

I'd not have known the salon was there had they not had signs of Grenfell St, but I am so glad I found this little treasure. For $65 I got a shampoo, trim, blowwave, straighten, both pre and post styling treatments and an eye brow wax (included as this weeks special). I also received a VIP card which entitles me to 15% off future visits and 10% discount on all products. I have already booked my next appointment and Sean and I are working together so that I can have the hair style I desperately want. He is brilliant and my hair looks gorgeous.

Great little salon in the competitive area of Mawson Lakes, it has been there for just over a year…read moreand seems to be getting busier lately. The owner Renae is the only hairdresser and she also sells shoes from her salon too. Every time if have been here, Renae has done my hair exactly how I have wanted it, changed anything I asked and chatted to me casually throughout. She is a genuine nice person who is easy to get along with and she puts in a lot of effort as a young person to make her own business work. The place is decked out nicely with purple paint, black wallpaper and lots of mirrors and nice chairs. All of her equipment is quality and she doesn't skimp on time or product when dealing with your hair. I am now a regular client and visit Renae to get my hair done fairly often and also have a gossip, as you do with your hairdresser. And I feel good about supporting a young girl starting her own business and making something of herself.

Bella Vita and its neighbour Blush Boutique seem to rarely have any customers. I've mentioned…read morebefore that this street doesn't get the attention it deserves. Like Blush Boutique, Bella Hair and Beauty seems geared towards the younger woman. Actually that might be a bit of an unfair statement, but I think that name would more than suggest that it's not a man's world inside. The prices are reasonable for what they offer. My partner went in for a bit of a trim and was reasonably happy with the job and cost involved. She's looking for a new "regular" place to get her hair done, and while I'm not sure she's settled on it, (she's trying a few places right now), this is high on the list.

I've even introduced my family to Sassi; my mum and my sister are clients now too. It's helpful for your hairdresser to know your family personally so that when you're telling long convoluted stories about your life, you save a lot of time explaining. The Sassi crew are lovely and take care of your hair and you, they do beautiful cuts colours and styles at excellent prices and they also do waxing and beauty treatments as well. When I changed my mind a few months later, Taila got me from that red combo to a pretty blonde in one sitting. Absolutely no damage or disaster. She can do a custom tone beautiful. The last time I went we did an orange and red ombre. I got so many compliments from people I met in my typical daily life. Best news is the price. Always competitive with other salons. I have tried one or two other salons, but they just didn't match Hair Magic's skills even when pricing was similar. Taila understands my individuality and always sculpts my ideas into real life bliss. I always recommend them to others. Without even a second thought. Yep, a rinse and set and she's done until next week, it's like ground hog week over and over again and each time I see her the hair is the same, I feel like giving it a little tug when she's not going to notice just to make sure it's not a wig! (Note: I'll live another day as she'd kill me with the mention of 100 years, so shhhh!). My m-i-n must be a real trend setter as this ain't no blue rinse place either, instead it's a brilliant, hip, award winning hair dresser and a real funky front display. One of the formula's for their success is simple customer service and listening to what the customers want and they have grown so quickly since the owner Sally took the reins 10 years ago. They have about eleven hairdressers working there and are constantly getting new business besides the regulars. The way they're going it'll be a family business for a long time yet with Sally's son being heir apparent in years to come. The salon has won awards as long as your arm and it just goes to show what a great team can do in a small local community setting. So if my mother in law says they're ok then they're ok by me :-)
