In a place where highly priced restaurant dot the island, The Chicken Fry is a great spot to pick up lunch and dinner (no tables) and fill your beach/work hunger. We had 3 big plate orders of stewed chicken, white rice, and yellow plantains, also comes with a side of beans. The chicken was moist and juicy especially with the savory sauce it was cooked with, the rice wasn't dry, the plantains ripe and well cooked, and the beans were seasoned and spiced just right. Service was friendly, fast even with the constant influx of people coming in. Fresh food was coming from the kitchen even by 745pm. The interior is simple, no frills, and well lit. We parked our car on the street and it took us less than 10 min to get our order. The road may seem sketchy to outsiders especially at nighttime but we had no problems finding the place. Would come back to try more of their food and would recommend! Small plates are around $8-9, and big plates start from around $12. Our big plate with the stewed chicken. Rice, plantains and a side of beans were $12 each. Oxtail big plate is $18 . Cash and credit cards accepted.

For dinner we had the churasco -- perfectly cooked to order skirt steak with rice (comes mixed with habichuelas/red beans and bits of ham) and a whole fried snapper which was huge and delicious. For dessert we shared the individual ramekin of key lime "pie" which was a layer of graham crust top with key lime pudding. Slightly tart filling and a sweet topping. I swear the last time we ate at Seabourne must have been 10-12 years ago. Waiting for so long to return was well worth it. What a fabulous meal! We are mostly vegetarian/pescatarian so we ordered the tuna and shrimp dishes. We also had the Jibaro nachos. All three dishes were beyond our expectations. How you get that much flavor in nachos is impressive. For the shrimp, we were expecting, in usual Puertorican style, a couple of lettuce leaves as a side. It was a heaping arugula salad with six spicy shrimp on top! Such a nice treat on this island where true greens are hard to come by. The tuna was served with a mango salsa and was also excellent. Now let's turn to the wine list. On this island, its Tempranillo, Malbec or Rioja (gets boring fast!) or crappy California swill. Azul has a very nice selection of wines by the bottle which include a lovely Spanish wine from Priorat. Wines from Priorat are some of my favorite - inky, dark and smoky. We enjoyed the heck out of the Gine Gine and at only $25, it was an amazing bargain. The atmosphere was tropical romantic and service was perfect.

For those who haven't seen my other reviews, I've been to hundreds of the best steakhouses, from NY to Chicago to Las Vegas to London, and while this wasn't a steakhouse it was fantastic. A nice think ribeye, perfect marbling but they also got the medium rare exactly as it should be, with an incredible char on the outside. I would fly back to Puerto Rico just to have this steak again. I also liked the crispy brussel sprouts and the asparagus were excellent, larger portion than you get elsewhere and nice thick asparagus. Finished with the I think 7 layer coconut cake, which I thought was the nicest dessert (split it with my wife's key lime pie, also good, and daughter's carrot cake donuts). Can't wait to go again.
