The name "La Alberca Asador" implies that the restaurant's grilled dishes are somehow a special experience. Indeed they were. My partner and I went there yesterday, because according to her information, it was the best restaurant in town. Perhaps not. My starter of mushrooms and blood sausage with pine nuts, etc. was quite good, and the beefsteak was was not badly done, though a wee bit tough and overcooked. Strangely, the cook tried to make it appear grilled by drawing lines on the meat with charcoal. These rubbed off, showing unscorched meat below. My guess is that the steak was precooked and frozen or that they feared what would happen to it on the real grill. About that grill... OMG. My lady ordered lamb ribs; the meat was good quality, but the taste was VILE. Like kerosine. They clearly have no idea how to operate a charcoal grill. We sent back the first order, and the second arrived, tasting still of kerosine, but less so, since some of the lighter fluid had burned off. Dessert (a white mousse) was nice. If you go, for God's sake, don't order anything grilled, and give careful instructions on how you want your meat or your experience may not be a happy one. read more
