L Train has single handedly gotten me more "Damn where did you get that from lil bro it looks fire..." than any other clothing store in Manhattan, and on an inflation buster budget. I'm so sick and tired of going into a "vintage" store where T-shirts are $100 and up. It goes against the whole ethos of vintage clothing smh. The whole fun of shopping vintage is coming up on a piece for the low. Shirts at L train are typically between $8-$15, unless they're hanging up on the wall then they will run you ahahaha. They have such a big inventory and wide selection of items that it may get overwhelming, but if you come in here locked in and keep your composure you will come up on something forsure. Go during the week though if possible, it's a ZOO on the weekends you'll be fighting for your life. I have gotten my 3 favorite pairs of jeans here for under $40 total, the velvet suit jacket I'm wearing in the attached pic for $12, some Lebron 3s that have become my outdoor hoop shoes for $40, and more shirts than I can count. L Train is so great, in fact, that it has almost become cool to hate on. they say they close at 8:00pm, but they'll kick u out early. the workers let me wait in line for a dressing room for 10 minutes, and as soon as one was available at 7:45pm, they wouldn't let me go in because they were "closed," although the sign on the front door clearly said they close at 8:00pm. just a bunch of workers that wanted to be done with their shift early. ended up being able to buy nothing because the workers kicked me out, and it was a huge waste of time. read more

Staff are lazy and rude. I stopped at the east village location after work to quickly pick out an outfit for the following day because I just moved into a new apartment and my clothes are packed somewhere in a sea of boxes in storage. First of all, there were about a dozen sales people working the sales floor who seem to get paid to do absolutely nothing, however, they were doing a great job at being unwelcoming and making me uncomfortable the entire time I was browsing through the clothes. Everywhere I browsed, the pants and shorts, at least 2 sales people would gang up next to me and start moving the hanging clothes on the rack back and forth very aggressively, it felt as though they were all hovering on top of me as if they were trying to catch me trying to shoplift because I was carrying a tote bag from work on my arm. At one point I asked an employee 3 times where the men's t shirts were and she looked at me silently like a deer in headlights. Finally I found the shirts and that's when shirt-gate 2024 went down. It was so aggressive that at one point the sales girl even cut me off to move a shirt over as I was reaching for it, the shirt was directly in front of me so she literally reached her arm across my chest to do this. As someone who runs a small high-end clothing boutique 3 blocks away, I would fire an employee on the spot if I caught them acting like this to a customer. To give context I was unaware that the store was 30 minutes from closing when I arrived. I spent about 25 minutes picking items I needed to try on (4 t shirts and 2 pairs of athletic shorts is what I ended up with). When I asked for a fitting room one of the sales girls told me the fitting rooms were closed now. I asked her if I was quick if she would let me, she said no they are closed and giggled when she said it with a fake and rude smile. I said "so you are going to lose a sale over this?" And she just said sorry with her attitude and condescending joker smile. Not once did any of the many employees have the courtesy to tell the customers that they were closing soon, as I said I was just trying to quickly get in and out because I had just gotten off work, but I had stayed a half hour late because a customer was still shopping after the store was closed. If the clothes weren't cute I would never go back, but I will be back eventually and when I do go back I will be sure to go the extra mile to give the employees the same courtesy they gave me. If the owner is reading this, I love your store but your employees are just terrible at their job. read more

Selection was fine and the price was akin to most of the thrift stores around it like beacons closet which is within 10 minutes of walking. One thing I did like was how they had workwear style jeans separately put aside for easy selection and I found them reasonably priced at around $20-25 (in comparison to my local goodwill $30... for stuff they're getting for free). The store was well organized and had a decent selection of clothes. There was an entire racks of some neat leather jackets around $40-90 I'm am not a huge fan of chain thrift stores raising prices... I can't think of anyone who'd want to drop $90 for a pair of overalls. read more

This was a cool place to come to. It was my first time and I came with friends. It was spacious and had some great finds and equally great prices. I found this great genuine leather jacket with a pink strip for $75.00. Regretfully, that was beyond my pay grade. However, I did find a Grey Calvin Klein jacket for $25.00. Score! Probably the best "up cycled shop" in Manhattan. Not the kind of vintage where you expect pristine Pierce's from the 30's for $200, but more than a bunch of crappy old 90's tees for $50. Most items were $10-20 with a few nicer leather or denim jackets more like $40-50. Very nice curated collection though and LOADS of inventory. Prices keep creeping up, I've found vintage Levi's at my local Goodwill for $3-4 but can't find a pair here for less than $25. Bought a Crewneck for $20 just to realize it had permanent marker + paint stains going up the side of one sleeve, then realized the zipper on the pants I bought for $40 were broken. Nothing is organized by size or color or brand or gender, just somewhat by category. I was also unaware that you have to show ID to buy anything. Pretty weird... and super inconvenient if you are under 18 without government identification or just happen to be walking through the area without your school lanyard. Overall, would much rather spend $100 on 20+ items at another thrift store than on 3 (potentially ripped/stained) pieces here. read more

Sick thrift store. Been to a few stores in the city and find so much is marked up to crazy prices not relative to its quality or style. I always find cool pieces here that are unique and in good shape without being a high price. Found a long fur coat here for my Halloween costume (and for general life purposes and winter coat) for $60 and it's heavy and the lining is intact. There were a ton of furs under $20 plus higher quality and real furs hanging high for $200+. There are a ton of graphic tees, athletic jackets, sweaters, etc upstairs as well as in the basement (forewarning it's so hot in the basement) all for $6-$15 which is amazing. Gets pretty crowded so it can get a little tight but definitely good place to find Statement pieces. read more

This store gets my FIVE stars. I always get whatever I need from these stores. Parents why spend the high prices for clothing when children throw them on the floor, never wash them and wear through their sneakers. Prices are excellent on sneakers, shoes, bags, pants, jackets (leather), shearling, fur, jumpers, jeans, belts, scarves, etc. The customer service is hella great. I will support these stores before I go to Macys, Bloomingdales etc. The quality from 80s to present is outstanding. The store is always crowed, clean and accomondating. I have gone to all 8 of their stores. I am happy with the money I continue to save. These stores will have your children and family members saving money and putting it to good use having quality clothing at a very reasonable price. I have read about Manhattan's L Train Vintage for a long time. I live in Maine so I knew when we booked 4 days in the big apple I had to go. I am SO glad I did! This place is fantastic. I bought several pieces including a gorgeous Banana Republic wool blend blazer with the tags still on it for 15 dollars! I also LOVE grandmother dresses from the 50's and 60's. I scored a silk pleated skirt dress that is clearly very old for TEN bucks! I am so glad we took the subway to 1st avenue and shopped at L Train Vintage. This could be the best thrift store I have ever been to. I will definitely go again when we return! read more

Also called L Train Vintage. I came here specifically for a denim jacket, they have a massive selection. I got to try on like 20 different ones before I found the look I wanted. They also have a great selection of leather jackets, and I was able to score a Guess jacket for just $20 - genuine leather! Easily one of the best vintage-ish stores in NYC. Went to the pants section, spent 10-15 minutes, found myself 5 pairs of vintage Levi's for exactly 100$. Bought two orange tabs from the 70's and 3 other pairs of awesome jeans. Would definitely come back here again . The cashier was dope and let me use a charger for my phone behind the register. This place is so confusing. Firstly it's called No Relation but listed as L Train Vintage online. Secondly, I felt like I've come to a military surplus/excess production store. Flimsy dresses from early 2000's stacked a sad looking rack in the basement. In another corner, was a collection of military issued camo pants lining the wall. The sweaters, like crewnecks were semi-decent. Graphic tees, again, range from early 90's to present, but you'll see more production items from the 2000's more than anything. Don't expect to find any timeless, unique kaleidoscopic print top here. You're seriously better off browsing through Goodwill for a couple cute tops. Again, Idk how these items are being priced or if it's a lack of a knowledgeable staff knowing what brands are good or what aren't. T-shirts are uniformly $8-10, and pants are also $10. I was puzzled and befuddled by this, but hey, half their stock is junk and they gotta make rent so I guess that's why. Seriously if they were more selective with the items coming in as donations to sell, they would do so much better. I came here on behalf of a couple recommendations amongst friends. I would've left 1 star but I can still appreciate the aspect of this place being run by a Hispanic staff. There are occasional goodies with original tags attached like Polo Ralph Lauren shorts. Very mediocre vintage clothing store with women's and men's products. Looks like it probably caters to mostly college kids. A lot of cheap, no name, basic vintage garments for men and women. My daughter did end up finding a Jean jacket here, so that was a good score but mostly everything was digging digging digging to no avail. They have a basement space too filled with mostly winter garments, sweaters jackets... Outstanding Graphic tees and "special" vintage items are not in this store.
