Wow! Great atmosphere; great service; great food, nice decor...outside seating available... Corner spot, not far from main train station... At first I was overwhelmed by the menu which was in German but the waiter was able to provide one in English which I appreciate more than anything. It was a Friday night, very busy, very chaotic but that's the type of atmosphere I love... Oh yeah I had a Calzone... I was either real hungry or It was the best calzone I ever had... read more

I was in Hannover for work and was missing Italian food dearly so I opted to look for some decent Italian food. And, by decent, I meant acceptable for an Italian Restaurant outside of Italy. First, don't get the "Aperitivo" plate unless you want to eat a bunch of cold veggies. I was expecting some "salumi" on my plate being that the plate costs €9, it didn't. I got the a glass of Montepulciano and I literally got a glass, not a wine glass mind you, but a wine in a glass you'd use for water. On a positive note, the service and the price is great. The pasta was how I expected it to be: al dente. Overall, if you're used to authentic Italian cuisine, you'd fine this acceptable. I'd recommend this place to my Italian friends except the antipasti. read more

I asked the clerk at the Courtyard Marriott where to get some good pizza, and he directed me to L'Osteria. About a 20 minute walk from the hotel towards the center of the city. Nice place, inside and outside seating, but, alas, all tables were taken. So, I sat at the bar, & ordered a cold beer. Might fine, might fine indeed. The bartender gave me a menu, but only in German. He asked the other bartender to help - turns out he's from Mexico. So I ordered a pepperoni pizza. 1 size fits all, about a 18" pie or so. Came out thin crust, slightly greasy, oh yea, I'm enjoying this. Then, I thought the bartender asked if I wanted some 'cheese'. I said sure, but, he bought me a small jar of a liquid substance. Not wanting to be rude, I poured it on 1/2 the pie. He then came by & said if it wasn't hot enough, he had some special stash he would share with me. OK then. Believe me, whatever it was I put on there, it was hot enough. He bought his special stash, habanero sauce, but I passed on that. The liquid substance was definitely not a liquid parmesan. Gestern waren wir nun auch mal in der L' Osteria, nachdem wir schon ein paar Mal die riesigen Pizzen durchs Fenster bestaunten. Aufgrund des schönen Wetters setzten wir uns direkt nach draußen. Wie viele Hannoveraner wissen, ist die direkte Lage am Thielenplatz mit sehr befahrener Hauptstasse und Straßenbahnanbindung nicht unbedingt ruhig und gemütlich, jedoch konnte man sich gut unterhalten und gewöhnte sich schnell an die Geräuschkulisse. Nachdem wir uns hingesetzt hatten und einen ausgiebigen Blick auf die Speisekarte warfen, kam ein aufmerksamer Kellner und fragte uns nach Getränken und Essen. Unser Wunsch, zwei Pizzen in einer zu vereinbaren wurde sofort angenommen und wenige Zeit später kam das leckere Essen. Unsere Vorspeisen, ein gemischter Salat und Bruschetta waren unserer Meinung nach eher durchschnittlich, doch die Pizzen waren erstklassig dünn, leicht mit den frischen Zutaten belegt und haben nach Italienurlaub pur geschmeckt! Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist sehr angemessen von einer Pizza können locker zwei Personen satt werden. Zusammengefasst war es ein sehr schöner Abend, leckeres Essen und ein toller Service! Tolles Essen. Schmeckt wie in Sizilien! Es ist die selbe Wurst, die ich im Urlaub auf gozo gegessen hatte. Deshalb war ich absolut begeistert. Die Nudeln waren auch al dente. Einziger Grund warum nur 4 von 5 Sternen in Frage kommen ist der Preis. Ich habe für mich und meine Freundin über 50€ gezahlt für Speis und Trank. read more

Super Italiener mit gigantischen Pizza-Portionen. Wenn ihr nicht auf einem Double-Date seid, oder euch die Hälfte der Pizza ins Doggy-Bag packen wollt, bestellt am besten keine ganze Pizza. Das schafft ihr nicht zu essen, auch wenn die Dinger Mega lecker sind. read more
