I visited this lovely little corner shop in the Le Plateau-Mont-Royal neighborhood last Wednesday…read moremorning and it was nice to see they already had regulars sitting and knitting their projects. The shop carries nicer, higher-end yarns. There are a lot of knitted samples to pique your creative interest. I didn't try their tea and pastries, but they have a nice, small selection. I bought a few items that were specific to La Maison Tricotée. The staff was so nice, welcoming, and helpful. I would recommend La Maison Tricotée to knitters, crocheters and yarn lovers. Even if you are not, but need to buy a gift for one, the helpful employees would give you guidance.

I had time to visit one yarn shop on a business trip to Montreal. I couldn't have chosen better and…read moreI wish there were more stars to give. The young lady working that day showed me all around when I asked about local, hand dyed yarns and told me interesting things about each brand. I had a delightful cup of tea and even though it was nearing closing time, I never felt rushed. She even helped me choose a great place to go to dinner and recommended a great bar to visit with a cool atmosphere I loved (Darling bar). But then she really went above and beyond when my uber driver called and she spoke to him for me in French. I ended up needing to request another driver and she offered me to wait inside the store out of the cold rain while he arrived even though the shop was closing. On top of that, I bought beautiful yarn! I am so glad to have things to remember from this shop. Many yarn stores have fabulous yarn but it's customer service like this that makes people fall in love with the store. (The tea and baked goods don't hurt either.) How I wish it was my LYS and that I didn't live hundreds of miles away. I hope I get to visit it again. In the meantime, do yourself a favor and visit this store!

Tour De Jeux is a great store to browse tabletop games and legos…read more The employees working there were super helpful and knew what they were talking about when it came to tabletop games (advanced ones). There is such a wide variety, there is something for everyone as well as new games to add to your collection. One of the employees told me that the barcodes are coded for languages. FR for French, ENG for English, and Multi for multi language. This was super helpful for finding games in English. I wanted to buy quite a few games here but the prices were quite steep. They had a 3D Catan that was about $100 more than the one on Amazon (US website). However, this was a fun store to look around and the employees truly were great.

This is a board game store, and not a toy store. This store was created way before the hype of…read moreboard games happened snd other stores popped up like crazy. The good: Staff knows their games and will take moments to explain it to you. Lots of board games, from simple to very complex. They have sections for complex games and popular games. Carries a good variety of local board games. Prices are the same as other stores and online stores. Also has mind games and puzzle section. Has area for the little ones too. The bad: VERY low on card games (so low you really have to look around to find them). Staff can really be in-your-face when you are just browsing, and that is truly annoying. The bad for me is what made me not give a store a five-star review. In fact, l might be generous with four as l am a card game fan (Munchkin, etc.), but they are so rare there. And the staff asking if you need help every five minutes is truly annoying (and afterwards looking at you from a distance).
