Every year the Aups village celebrates Truffle.
I have lunch in this restaurant called "L'épicerie" (the grocery) which, as its name implies, also serves grocery. Indeed, the room is among many items for sale: jams, olive oils, wines, sweets ...
The place is run by a couple of very nice young women. For the feast of truffles they had put together a unique menu at 55 EUR which included:
- Appetizer: foie gras and truffle toast
- Main plate: ravioli with truffles and piece of beef from the butcher next door
- Dessert: apple pie or baba au rhum (canned), Chestnut cream & madeleine, madeleines dipped in chocolate sauce.
I regret that I couldn't feel the taste of truffles throughout the meal, it was pretty much absent.
A disappointment at the desserts that were pretty basic: some madeleines and chocolate sauce, rum babas in jars, a little Chestnut cream ... In short not very productive.
+ for the hearty welcome of the ladies. We were even able to share with them a piece of frangipane (traditionnal cake) that the sister of the landlady had crafted. read more
