The service was exceptional with the staff working efficiently and in such a friendly manner to serve people quickly. The merveilleux weren't overly sweet which is amazing considering they were like mini meringues! They were beautiful with amazing flavour and I wish I had bought more to bring home, no matter how bashed they would have ended up. Exquisitive and a must visit if you are in the area of the Wazemmes Market.

However, when I came and showed my 9 points today, some of which were slightly harder to read due to the bad quality of the ink and the passing of time, they refused to accept my points, despite the tickets being clearly legible. I came to the store 4 days a week, sometimes twice a day. It felt incredibly petty and dishonest that they would turn down my points under those circumstances.

The baguettes here are definitely the best bread I have ever tasted, and I have had a fair amount of bread in my time. The only thing you need to watch with these (although it's not a bad thing!) is that they only last the day you get them because I don't think there are any preservatives or anything like that in any of their stuff! Which obviously isn't really a problem, as I used to scoff all my purchases from here really quickly! The almond croissants are an absolute joy as well!! The only negative I have about this place is that I found it relatively expensive at the time (I was but a poor struggling student!) but you definitely get what you pay for here. You could definitely pay more for lesser-quality food in Lille - I probably have done - so paying a bit more than supermarket prices for things which will make both your stomach and your soul very happy is completely worth it!! One piece of advice I do have though is that if it's a sandwich you're after, theirs aren't really worth it. I remember them being pretty pricey and I didn't like the fillings as much as the glorious morsels you can get at Dog Sandwichs (review to follow.) But if you're after an exquisite baked good, from bread to pastries to cakes, Coeur d'épis is definitely the place!
