Spots like L'Amère are the reason I highly encourage walking and wandering around new places, because there's so much you miss by driving or just Googling. Anyway. I thought that because of the crowd outside, there wouldn't be any seating inside, but boy was I wrong! It turns out people just like to congregate outside of the bars where they buy drinks--I presume mostly because they end up smoking most of the time as well. In any case, I walked in and there was plenty of seating, so I went up and got a beer. The bartender was friendly and let me taste a beer before deciding, which nobody else in Brussels had offered. It made me want to stay there forever and figure out--or make up--the stories behind each item. Overall, a fantastic place with fascinating decor and friendly people.
