If you enjoy spicy stuff, you can't miss with the de Tigrou (Tiger steak) preparation. The usual sauce (mustard and cream I think) is drizzled with red pepper sauce and a red chili is added on top. Steak was cooked on the rare side as I asked for med-rare and was seared perfectly and the cut was tender. Fries and bread are both included with the meal (unlimited fries!), and the Loire Valley red wine I had was fantastic. Price was reasonable at around 26 Euro for wine, steak, fries, bread, and an expresso.

Wow. This is one of the best dinners I've ever had and it was worth every Euro spent. This hidden…read moregem is located in the neighborhood and hard to find, but you'll recognize it once you see the bright white tablecloths. We started with this asparagus pudding with foam at the top and salmon on top of a piece of toast. Salmon was very fresh and was a great way to start our dinner. I ordered the 4 course meal for 56 euros and it included the following: 1. Foie gras with mushrooms - The foie gras melts in your mouth and mushrooms are so good! 2. Risotto langostines - The Langostine was so "meaty" and thick. The risotto is also soaked in yummy butter! 3. Breaded lamb with pan fried chicken liver - My first lamb that wasn't gamey and it cut very well with a knife and fork. Almost like steak! The pan fried chicken liver was also to die for. It was the crunchy layer and such a soft meat. 4. Soufflé with mirabelle sauce - It has the texture of flan with cotton candy on top. The mirabelle sauce was so good, I cleaned the plate! (Hides) As an American, I thought the portions were a bit small, but the food came out in perfect times to keep me from being so hungry. And now that dinner service is done, I am STUFFED! Dinner ended with a table dessert which was panacotta with apricot and peach jelly topping and a homemade marshmallow. The panacotta wasn't sweet, which I really appreciated, but the marshmallow makes up for it. The marshmallow was also super fluffy where my fork could bounce off of it! I would sooo come back here again and try their chef menu meal. We just didn't have a few hours to spare to wait for our meals. Service was so great too! Our wine glasses stated full and sparkling bottled water was always on the table.

The flow of the meal was perfect and as this is a small establishment there was a very family feel to it. Personally greeted pre meal and thanked by every member of the staff as we left. Food was outstanding and very filling...salmon was perfectly prepared and the veal with mushrooms was great. Things were prepared fresh and in a great simple manner. Nothing hiding behind salt or sauce, it was all enjoyable from beginning to end... Will return!

A charming Bistro, just as it should be, with good food, well chosen wines and efficient and…read morefriendly service. The menu includes some classic dishes and some specialities of the region. The owner, the very friendly Monsieur G. welcomed and seated every guest arriving himself, which certainly adds to the atmosphere. Soon some good bread and homemade spread arrived with my glass of wine, which I had ordered instead or as an aperitiv. Feeling adventures (usually do), I ordered the tête de veau, which was served "off the bone" on a big plate of salad, with pan fried potatoes, vinaigrette and sauce gribiche on the side. Although I helped my delicious food down with some more good wine, I had to decline dessert, as I was quite satisfied and had a good espresso instead. Of the wines I especially enjoyed a Pinot Noir from Alsace. When I asked the waiter who the producer was, he came back with name, address and telephone number. Good thing, as I was in Alsace a few days later and looked up the vigneron, Domaine René Kientz in Blienschwiller, where I found some more good wines at decent prices.

** A perfect early-fall dinner in Metz**…read more We had a wonderful evening at Les Tavernes. Our group ordered steak, chicken cordon bleu, and fish, and everyone left happy. Each dish came with a fresh side salad, rich mushroom gravy, and crispy French fries, and some of us had green beans too. The portions were generous and the flavors were spot on. We finished with apple pie, which was the perfect way to end the meal. Service was friendly, attentive, and relaxed. We sat outside on a warm early fall evening, and it made the whole dinner feel special. It's also just a few blocks from our hotel, so it was easy to walk over. Highly recommend for a relaxed, satisfying meal in Metz. We'd happily come back!
