I was looking forward to the newest addition to the Laken dining scene. I moved here but have so far been unimpressed with 99% of the stuff around here. I know the neighborhood is about to change but not fast enough for me. So with that said, I was happy when the old Belgian Brasserie closed and a new modern Moroccan place opened there. However, I am pleased by the faire but not by the price. The food is better quality than the surrounding area. I really liked the little entree salads. But the lunch special was 12,90 euro. That price is okay for the centrum area but for Laken, it's a bit steep. I would have been happy with 8-9 or even 10 with the right balance of food. The fries salad and chicken skewer were more old Belgian than new Moroccan. I'd rather see a smaller portion of a cous-cous as the lunch than what others offer. I just wan't prepared to order a dinner meal for that time of day.
The staff is really pleasant and good with English speakers. It's only been open for a couple of weeks so it is understandable that they have a ways to go before they figure things out. The place is clean and nice on the inside. The decor is definitely the same as the previous owners. But that is not necessarily a bad thing. It's pretty, just not ethnic. They could use to replace some tired table cloths and such but maybe they own those and it is not a replacement service. I hope they make it. I will go back for an evening dish where a 16+ price point is not out of place for a dinner. I'll update when I do. read more
