Found this treasure of a guest house on another review site and couldn't have been more pleased…read morewith the choice. From the outside, it looks like nothing special, but what a pleasant surprise as soon as the affable owner opened the door. There are only 3 massive sized guest rooms, each decorated uniquely different and all stunning. There's a coffee bar with tea and a Nespresso machine (that alone won beaucoup brownie points with me)-and the location was perfect, walking distance to shops, restaurants and the waterfront. Not to mention the delicious breakfast and reasonable price. I'd come back to Bordeaux just to stay longer in this comfy retreat.

When you enter, you are basically in an adorable and open living room and kitchen with classic French finishes and decor. Our room was clean, everything was updated and there were plenty of electrical plugs for our devices. The owners are so wonderful and kind. I wish I lived there and we could all be friends. Thank you Maria, Gerant and Blaise for making our stay so special. We also appreciate the suggestions to eat and wine taste. I can't wait to come back and hang out with you guys and little Chico! xo PS. The photos on Yelp are old...and I only have a video of our room. Check out trip advisor for more recent photos of the property because I believe they did a renovation not too long ago.

We have stayed in many places similar to this ,but none as nice and good as La Maison Colline…read more The location is outstanding, so close to the center of the city, and the wonderful sights St Emilion is famous for. The owners were helpful in guiding us to the places we described as our kind of places we wanted to visit. They were willing to make reservations at Wineries, restaurants and whatever we asked they had good suggestions to offer. Our room was cozy and beautiful and had a view of the downtown area and the lovely Church in the city center. We plan on going back and staying there again.

This place is wonderful! We thought ourselves very lucky to find it as it's in the middle of the…read morecountry in St-Estéphe, about 45 minutes outside of Bordeaux. We booked online with a travel site and the reservation process couldn't have been easier. The rooms aren't anything fancy but well appointed and clean. We had a nicely-sized closet, mini bar, two desks, a king bed and a twin for extra room. But the bathroom.... my goodness THAT SHOWER. I like my shower time people, but this shower... it was possibly the best shower I've ever been in. Not only was it large and beautiful, but the huge rainfall shower head pushed out water at just the right pressure and temperature. Seriously guys, I could have spent over an hour in there, pruney hands and all. The restaurant downstairs is a life-saver as the closest restaurant is a bit of a drive, especially if you're new to the area. We ate downstairs for breakfast and dinner both nights. Lunch is only served on the weekends. Although the menu is small and doesn't change, the selection is tasty and very French. They also offer a nice wine list that features local Médoc wineries. Breakfast isn't included with the room price, but again... worth it. Front desk management speaks English, but the sole restaurant waiter does not, so be prepared to speak a bit of French. The only hang-up we had with the place is that the room got very warm and we couldn't cool down because of the hot temperatures outside. Air conditioning would have been a nice bonus. The views are spectacular, the location is remote and serene and the Chåteau is lovely. Definitely would recommend if you're looking for a place to stay with a slower pace of life.

Overall, it does not feel like a commercial holiday house at all. The villa is surrounded by pine tree forest. When sitting outside in the morning, we always heard the birds signing. Location-wise it is also great: walking distance to the lake, close drive to the ocean and Dune du Pilat. He house has a dishwasher, microwave, oven, washing machine, drying machine, iron, ironing board, TV and even hairdryer - everything one needs! I have stayed there with my family and we loved it so much that will probably come back!
