We felt uncomfortable to send her back so we cancelled her lessons. The other daughter wanted to continue lessons but the owner called and told us not to send her as well. Payment is required one month upfront and we were willing to take a loss on the one daughter but not both. The owner refuses refunds.

After this last one, we're officially done. Over the course of 3 months, there was no communication about schedule changes. Out of nowhere, they added the Wicked cast to a dance recital 30+ minutes away and told the kids they'd only get a medal if they attended. Families had to sit through 4+ hours just to watch their kid perform one song--and pay $18 per ticket for it. The new location is a joke. Construction is still incomplete. They should have finished the facility before running programs--not oversold camps and shows they clearly aren't equipped to handle just to fund their own build-out. The show itself was disappointing. Tattered curtains safety-pinned to windows, dollar store tablecloths on the wall, elementary-level paper trees, and a cardboard box as Oz. No microphones, no PA system, no choreography--just a boombox. Seating was folding chairs; I had to stand in the back just to see my daughter. The lack of professionalism and creativity did not go unnoticed. This felt more like a cash grab than a performance. These kids worked hard and deserved so much better. We won't be back--and I hope others think twice before signing up.

I was assigned to Marjaun as my professional dance partner. From beginning to end, the entire process of working with Marjaun was wonderful. I was in a lot of pain from dealing with my treatment, but he inspired me so much that I pushed through. Our dance on the night of the show was FIRE, and I was proud of myself for learning something new. Every person that works here is so warm and friendly. From the owners, to each dancer, they get to know you and take an interest in your success. I loved the free weekly group lessons and seeing people met each other there after work for lessons. It just infuses energy into your day when you put those shoes on and grab your partner's hand. I would encourage anyone interested in adding fun to their life to head to Fred Astaire. This area has a lot of dance studios but what drew me to Shanon's is that she has a heart of gold and treats everyone with courtesy and respect. Her warm demeanor, pride in her studio, and care for her students and their parents really shine through in every interaction I have with her. She is also a true professional who is quick to reply to any emails with any questions I may have. Just as importantly, Shanon's Dance Academy students are under the tutelage of the fabulous Ms. Martha. Under Ms. Martha's firm, no-nonsense approach, my kids have really improved in their dancing skills over the past year and their love of dance has only grown. And although Ms. Martha doesn't coddle her students, she possesses the necessary balance between being tough and gentle at the same time. She treats my kids and all dancers with dignity so that when she gives them constructive criticism, they actually want to improve and work hard to do so. Shanon and Ms. Martha are a real team and they put on an amazing end-of-the-year recital each June that my entire family looks forward to. My kids have been in two recitals so far and the recital experience is one that I really feel has been a positive in their development. I finally sued them in small claims court and won. I would recommend this route for anyone else whom they try to screw out of their hard earned money - it was easier than I thought and satisfying when I realized from other reviews that this seems to be a trend. After moving to the other side of Oakland County, I tried CrossFit (already haveing experiance with CrossFit prior to Xceleration), Orange Theory, and other gyms, but I wasn't seeing the same results.I kept wishing for "another" Xceleration gym. Five years later, I've moved back to the area and returned to Xceleration. It feels like no time has passed--many of the same trainers and great workouts in a welcoming, judge-free environment.
