You know the menu before you even see it. Anich is, in my opinion, the very best of them all. Be aware that the food is HEAVY and served in large portions. If you order one of the classic popular meat dishes (roast pork, schnitzel, goulash, etc) you should either be very hungry, prepared to share, or willing to ask for a takeout box. It's a ton of food and it's all stellar. I'm trying and failing to think of something we ordered there that was less than delicious and I can't. The service was not especially fast but I don't mark this kind of restaurant down for that because the meal is supposed to be a slow one. The local wine selection is excellent as is the beer. During a very crowded time you may be asked to share a large table with strangers or so we heard, but in my visits I never saw this happen. It was winter. Summer may be a different story. The building is lovely as are the several dining rooms. If you're looking for a light meal go elsewhere. If you want to be stuffed with dumplings, meat, gravy, and all that great stuff don't go elsewhere.

That time was a full blown dinner outing, complete with local Austrian food, and quasi-polka/top 40 (!) band, and some lovely drunk Russians who were kind enough to share their vodka. This time, it was just the two of us trekking up the hill which seemed especially steep on this cloudy, snowy, chilly day. But well worth the hike once inside where we were greeted with Weissbier and local Austrian red wine. We split a cheese and ham sandwich, and a sausage with sauerkraut. Both were good; a review slanted somewhat by the fact that we were cold, tired and starving! But it's a great hike, and a great reward for making it up the hill! A must do if you're in the area. By the way, going down the hill is a lot faster. Some rent toboggans and make the 40 minute journey in about 5 minutes flat!

I had the beef dish with onion sauce and crispy onions on top, I can't recall the complicated name. It was delicious, the sauce with wine was unreal. I really loved it. Another had the much room beef special and it was apparently delicious too. Not as strong a flavour as mine but still very good. We also had the spinach cheese balls too, which were also liked, it was very tasty but quite a heavy dish, to be expected. We also had the cheese spatzle dish, it was really nice too. To top it off we had the apple strudel and the sxhmarne dessert. Both were good. We liked the schmarne the best. It was liked and even a little crunchy too. The sauces were very good and not sweet. Overall a great experience, great from beginning to end.

Mildly jet lagged from a 10 hour flight & 2 hour drive, we found a place we could walk to, as we needed to stretch our legs. This place was hard to find, simply because Google maps was slightly off on how to get there, and the Yelp page had it listed as a hotel. In general, the online review world is much more limited in the Innsbruck area, so let's see if I can help that. New to us, we asked about a bowl of breads/pretzels and were told we could pick and pay for what we wanted. Our meal was fantastic. Not light or the most healthy, but delicious nonetheless. Zwiebelrostbraten mit roestkartoffeln (Steak with Crispy Onions with roasted potatoes): The Steak with crispy onions & potato is apparently a pretty traditional dish, it was indeed a hearty and filling meal, the flavor was definitely great, the meat wasn't the leanest cut possible, but that's fine, to be expected. Steirischer Backhendlsalat mit Kernol (Fried chicken salad): The salad was very good too, fried chicken pieces over a green salad (over a potato salad). Once again, not light, but all tasted great. Not a huge place, but definitely felt like it could have been there for 100 years. The patio had a great view over the valley to the north, but it was a cooler evening so not many patrons out there. Only warning I give, as a visitor from another country, smoking indoors is still very common in Austria, so be prepared to walk into a smoky bar/restaurant/shop, otherwise we absolutely loved our meal here! Had we not wanted to try more places, we would definitely return again!

Goulash Soup, Schnitzel Tirolese comes with a big salad, fries... The service was great. People smile and are really happy to help you. The prices are also very good.
