There really is no reason to go to Brixton other than to get drunk. I sometimes go there to visit my friend Lee and after bypassing the skunk-weed-skunk-weed man at the tube station I walk up to his flat on Brixton Hill and buy my drinking provisions from Kwik Stop, his friendly local corner shop.
On top of being open 24 hours, they have an enviable freezer section and any tinned meat you could ever wish to eat, which is useful because pretty much everything else in Brixton is closed after 11pm, including Salisbury's. The men in Kwik Stop are incredibly friendly in the face of adversity (the terrifying residents of Brixton popping in to try and buy things with 1ps and 2ps).
The real reason I like this shop is because they sell six cans of lager for a fiver. They also have lots of fruit and vegetables for those of a healthier disposition and all in all it's a very convenient convenience store. read more
