Kutscher Drilling gave me a bid on a job for $3600. I paid the amount we agreed on. Later I got a bill for $4742.79. I called to ask why I got a bill for an additional $1,142.79 instead of $3600. I got one excuse after another. They didn't know... the man that did the work didn't work there anymore... that person isn't in the office..... I had paid the original amount and since I never got an explanation for additional charges of $1,142.79, I didn't pay those. Three years later Kutscher Drilling filed a lien with Hays County for $4800 (notice NO credit for the $3600 I already paid!) I didn't know about this lien until I applied for a loan. My credit score is 850 because I pay my bills. I explained the situation to the bank and they said I can't proceed until I paid the lien. I paid Kutscher Drilling the $1142.79 PLUS $863.82 in fee from them AND the filing fee. A MONTH HAS GONE BY AND KUTSCHER REFUSES TO RELEASE THE LIEN. Still excuses... one after another: "no one is in the office, the office is closed, Christy isn't in today, we will do it next week...." THIS COMPANY IS UNETHICAL. I am not the first one to write a bad review. I wonder if they wrote their own good reviews or paid for good reviews? FIND SOMEONE ELSE UNLESS YOU WANT TROUBLE!! read more

Just FYI. You can purchase a Gould's Model J10S Jet Pump online for $449.99 plus $100 shipping. The pump comes with a manufacture's five-year warranty. A three-year extended protection plan can also be purchased for $65. Kutscher charged me $1,435 plus $400 labor to install the same pump with the manufacture's 5-year warranty. I know I should have asked for an estimate before I approved the work but knowing the on-line cost of the pump, I did not think Kutscher would triple the cost. By the time their technician had diagnosed the problem, I already owed them $160 labor anyway. The technician was very good and friendly. Work was done in a professional manner. read more

Kutscher installed a new well for us. We received the original estimate and it was reasonable. They met us on the property and we identified the location to drill. When I asked when they could get started, they were honest and said it would be roughly a year based on the staffing they had. Since we were in no hurry, we agreed. The whole process did take roughly a year. They communicated with us every step of the way. Most of the work happened before holiday weekends, so we assume we were fill in work, which was fine with us. After completion, we added up the cost and compared it to the estimate, and they came in $2,800 below the estimate. I've looked at other reviews on here and I believe that we may have been lucky in hitting clean water at 170 feet. I like that they put in that contingency in case they had to drill a second or third hole. The only thing I can say, is have patience. They are very busy and understaffed, but they do quality work. read more

Went to fill up the water trough for the horse on Saturday evening of Labor Day weekend. Nothing came out of the hose bib, and the blue pressure tank was empty. Mind you the house was rented out for the 3-day weekend. We immediately notified the guests via voicemail and text; then delivered a case of drinking water and 3 buckets of water (for toilets) from across the street. Oddly, the guests used only the drinking water, stayed all 3 nights, but never answered any of the messages from the property manager. But I digress. We had our electrician out there within 30 minutes after we discovered the lack of water, and he measured 240 Volts present in all the right places. So it had to be something wrong with the well. We started calling a bunch of different Well companies, and the only one that answered the phone that night was Kutscher. Their man Harrison was out on the property at 11 AM the next morning. He diagnosed a bad capacitor, fixed it immediately, and tested everything. He called me right away with his report, and patiently answered all of my questions. He told me that they always keep someone on-call for emergencies. Thank goodness So I could not be any more pleased with the service. I hope my well keeps working well a long time, but now I know who to call for great service, and I will recommend to all my neighbors. read more

Stay away from these scammers. During the 2021 Texas hard freeze and when thousands of people were left with out power and electricity, this company went around taking advantage of customers with frozen or broken wells. They inspected my well and assured me in my face that my motor was totally useless and burnt. They tried to make me buy a new motor from them for over $2500. I asked them to please test the motor in front of me to prove that indeed it was dead. The lead and office manager guy, who's names I won't disclose at this time, refused to do this at first. The new guy helping out told me to the side, sr, they are trying to scam you. There is nothing wrong with your motor. Since he was new to the company he asked me to not reveal his name. I stood my ground demanded the lead technician to test the pump. Surprise!!! It worked just fine!!!! Almost 4 years later my old pump motor continues to run flawless. This company needs to be investigated for fraud and deceiving practices. They agreed to waive the fees after I cought them scamming me. But 4 years later they are still billing people. They are lying again. And they still charge customers after laying to them. They are still trying to collect service fees after they intentionally lied to customers. stay away from them. read more

Followed up weekly asking for an ETA on witching and a well bid. "We'll get back to you soon, you're on our radar." Eventually I could tell I was annoying them with my checkups so I quit following up with it and never got a call back. Not pleased at all with being "handled" would definitely prefer to be told they're too busy to accept any more potential customers. The hunt continues. read more

Low class! What a bummer when you hire someone expecting honest work. Gave us a quote with the correct information I provided, we live on a nice ranch...when I got the bill it was DOUBLE the quoted price and I'm an honest person, I'll pay if it took that much equipment etc and this can be brought up during the work (they had contact with me). So I didn't want to agree to that, I feel like once they saw we were "well off" they tried to take advantage of that. Not to mention the filed a LEIN against me for almost 4x the quoted price. My experience with Kutscher is NOTHING like the other reviewers. My parents have used Kutscher for many years, and after they went into assisted living, I worked on clearing out their house and remodeling. I know that Mr. Kutscher lives nearby, and has cared for my parents' 35-year-old well for as long as they've lived there (twenty years). I've had maybe four or five different interactions with Kutscher, and each time they've been professional, prompt, and priced extremely reasonably. I know on more than one occasion we've called on a weekend and they were available. I was at the house alone, also, and at no time did I ever feel like I was pressured to spend money on unnecessary repairs--they were extremely fair in their dealings with me. After finding out my dad had made a temporary connection to the RV pad, I checked with two other local plumbers, and both quoted over $1,000 to connect it before selling the house. My dad suggested that Kutscher may be able to make the addition, since it was coming directly from the well house. Sure enough, they quoted me SIGNIFICANTLY less than the plumbers, and were out the next day to perform the work, adding an extra hose bib for convenience. They charged an hourly rate plus parts, and it was more than fair. Each time I've called Kutscher, they've gone out of their way to meet me at my convenience, and the office staff has been friendly and helpful. Even the techs who have come out to the house have been professional and enjoyable to work with. They stand by their work, and the work is performed with skill and integrity. Kutscher drilled our well in the mid 80s. I have been using them for service work ever since, until now. We got home on a Sat afternoon and our well controller was dead. I called them for help. The guy that returned my call said he is a supervisor & had already left for the day even tho it was an hour before they closed. He told me he was at home and wasn't going to come back to the office until Monday. I could get one then and until then I could go without water. I called Four times over the following two weeks and asked to talk to Danial the owner. He would never talk to me. There are other well drillers out there, I found one in Wimberley that Sat afternoon to buy a controller from and was up that night. Very unfortunate. read more

We have had nothing but excellent service by this company. Their staff have been responsive every time we've called in a panic over an issue with the water supply involving our well. I believe we've called them more than 5 times over the past 7 years and they have come out same day on every call save one when we called on a Sunday and then they were here on Monday. They have worked in freezing conditions and blazing conditions without complaint. The guys who come out work hard, they use teamwork to resolve issues and are always courteous and friendly. Every service company I have worked with has a service fee for showing up and that is a good/normal business practice so they don't get taken advantage of with people using them to diagnose a problem and go elsewhere for the work. And those quality companies who have a service fee typically use it towards any work they do. Kutscher does the same. Today they came out less than 2 hours after we called late in the day and resolved our problem for only the service fee and the price of a part. I can't recommend them any higher than 5 stars but they are 10 in my book! read more

I wanted to take the time to publicly thank Avery and Cody from Kutcher's for coming my way after 5 days of frozen temps and no water. They worked at dark til I was back up and running. They had no eaten for the day as they were busy helping others just like me. I told them if you were not tough, then don't work for a well service! The drilling was great but Christy, in the office, was terrible. The price increased dramatically AFTER the bid and service with no explanation. I asked about the increase and never got an answer. I paid the original agreed amount. Three years later, Christy filed a lien with Hays County for an amount over the original bill and the inflated bill! Nothing made sense! I needed to refinance my house so I had to pay them. Christy refused to release the lien for over a month. She is probably an owner or owner's wife... normal employees don't do things like this and stay employed. Very disappointed with the financial end of this interaction! You've been warned! read more

This company is a disgrace, and I will never do any business with them ever again. I called them on a Monday to set up an appointment for a well inspection. They performed the well inspection on Wednesday and promised me the results (which I paid an expedite fee for) by the end of business Friday. Friday came and went without a word. At 5:20PM I called and got their answering service who put in an emergency request to the owners - I got no call back. I then called during "business hours" (according to their website, 10-5 on Saturdays) and got the answering service again, and left yet another urgent message. This time Darren called me back and said he did not have my water sample test results, had no way of getting them, and to call back on Monday. He did not apologize for missing the deadline nor offer any explanation. I called back Monday morning and left a message before 10A and was promised a callback. By 12:30 I'd heard nothing and called back. Spoke with Darren who promised to call me as soon as he knew something. Heard nothing again, and called back at 3PM to find that the report was now available and was being emailed right away. By 3:45PM, the report had not arrived - I called back and asked him to mail it while I was on the phone which to his credit, he did and I finally got the results back that my pending home contract depended on. Two days later (Wednesday) I got an email response to the "urgent" one I'd sent the previous Friday night asking if everything was taken care of. Really? Five days to answer an email? The test results indicated a necessity for a well shock treatment, which I contracted out to another company - I will not reward bad behavior. read more

This snow storm has done a number on pipes and wells. We did all the right things and still had a frozen pipe at the well. Weather was so harsh! Left a text message and waited. End of next day, after roads opened, they arrived and had all the equipment to get us up and running in around an hour. So efficient and polite. Very professional. Company attending to 400 calls. on august 7th, when a tech came over to find my water supply problem. he didn't mention the price of the service fee. today, i received an invoce of $125.00 under code: 1 service call wm 8-7-19. as i have posted before: "my neighbor, john hopkins (like father like son, remodeling co.) recommended your company for an emergency problem concerning lack of water inside my residence. i thank you very much for sending a tech, (from n. braunfels) who rinsed an old water softener cartridge & reinstalled again on my whirpool water softener. unfortunatelly, the low water pressure & lack of water inside my house continued, so, a friend of mine brought a new cartridge & thanks to god, i was able to install it - the new cartridge solve the problem, not your technician!!!!, therefore i disputed the service charge, but unfortunatelly they informed me that i have to pay!!! i'm almost 85 years old & if i have known the price of the service call, i would've cancel my request. please tell everybody!!!!, that before hiring any and all companies, be sure to ask ahead of time how much they are going to charge to for their service call & evaluate the problem. mov read more

Ok, So here is my experience with these guys. NOT GOOD. They took 3 months to show up on the job, and I had to bug them even to get them out at that point. They drilled for a week and told me there was water in the ground there, they knew it. Anyways after they reached the depth they were going they disappeared for a week, leaving equipment out on my land, which was TRASHED. Cigarette butts, fast food bags, they ran over two lawn chairs. Then another guy who claims he is the head driller shows up and said they were going to drill deeper, so they attempted to pull the PVC casing out and broke it off in the hole. STILL stuck the drill down in there and bored out the old PVC. Now mind you that all this ground up PVC is still on my property. So they drilled deeper, the whole time telling me there was water there. I saw water come out at one point. However, after 3 weeks of being non-communicative, they tell me its a dry hole. Sorry guys, I know from how dodgy they were that something was wrong. The owner NEVER called me, though I tried repeatedly to get him. Leno is a shady character as well. So, if you want a good driller call someone else. read more
