Greens Fork Animal Hospital

I am that crazy person who spends too much time on the internet only to be anxious about…read moreeverything. I cannot articulate with enough intensity how appreciative I am for their unwavering patience with my questions and their understanding of my fears about my beloved sphynx. Greensfork Animal Hospital is truly a shining diamond in veterinary care.

I wish I could give Greens Fork Animal Hospital and Dr. Preston 50 stars! I am still amazed at the…read morecompassion and promptness at which they took in a feral cat who wasn't even a patient of theirs. I took the little guy, named Puppy Cat for his attachment to our Great Pyrenees dogs, and two others to a local low-cost spay and neuter clinic on Saturday morning. We have several barn cats and the population threatened to get out of control this spring. Long story short, Puppy Cat's surgery was completely botched and we didn't realize it (because he was laying in the back of the carrier and we didn't want to disturb him) until midnight or so. When we saw what he looked like "back there," we knew it was an emergency. Things that were supposed to be inside were... well, out. They had sent him home with no pain medication and he was clearly in a lot of pain. I called several emergency clinics, but they were all at least an hour away from us, and other veterianarians basically said that because we weren't established clients, they weren't going to take the time to see him. Finally, my boyfriend found the emergency number for Greens Fork's clinic and I left a message with their paging system, which told me that I would receive a return call within 15 minutes. Dr. Preston returned my call within 10 minutes, not sounding the least bit put off that I had probably jolted him out of his REMs at 1:00 in the morning. He sounded very concerned based on the description of the problem and told me to meet him at his clinic in 20 minutes. We loaded up Puppy Cat (who was limp and could not stand on his own) and brought him in. Within minutes, Dr. Preston had discovered the problem and explained to us what would be required to correct it. He immediately started Puppy on IV fluids and gave him some pain medication, being very gentle, petting him and calling him "young man." He placed him in a clean kennel with a litter box and water, and introduced us to one of the clinic's most interesting clients, a 19-year-old Siamese cat named Queen Sheba. He has been treating her for many years and even purchased her very own bed. Dr. Preston came back in today (Sunday) to perform surgery on Puppy, clean out his ears (which were infested with mites) and trim his nails. For the inconvenient time and the emergency surgery, the price was very reasonable, especially since Puppy has made a complete 180 since last night. His eyes are bright, his appetite is back and he is rolling on the floor to have his belly scratched. Not bad for a cat who wouldn't let us pet him for more than a few seconds at a time before. I am so grateful to Dr. Preston for his time and concern for this little guy. All of my pets will be clients at the Greens Fork Animal Hospital from now on.
