I've used Kuhns Electric Supply over the years for my spray wands for my contracting business that consist of a piece of aluminum electrical conduit that is threaded on both ends. I've never had a problem until today, when I called ahead of time to make sure that they were open, and got the owner on the phone. When I explained to him what I needed, I received one of the rudest, most ignorant responses I've ever had in 20+ years of being in business.
In a rambling, incoherent tone, he alleged that they "don't do that, and never have". When I politely explained to him that I'd been coming there for years, he became belligerent and stated "If you're telling the truth, then that would make me 96 years...NO, 106 years old!". Perplexed and frustrated, I simply hung up the phone. I can't recall ever doing business directly with the owner, but I know for a fact that I have had his employees cut, thread, and sell me lengths of aluminum pipe on many, many occasions. In fact, I have an invoice beside me on my desk right now from last year, from Kuhns Electric Supply.....for a piece of threaded, cut-to-spec aluminum pipe.
I've learned over the years not to expect "top notch" service from virtually ANY establishment in the Laurel Valley, but today's unbelievable circus of incompetence and belligerence from the likes of the owner of Kuhns Electric Supply really takes the cake. I mean, how difficult is it to at the very least practice at least some degree of basic human decency when you're answering the phone at the business that you own? I would NEVER treat my own customers, not even my worst ones, with that degree of disrespect.
In summary, I'd recommend going to Lowe's over this business if you can help it. I'm all for supporting local businesses over the big corporations, but I'd rather have service with a fake smile than no service at all topped off with borderline harassment by telephone. This place is low-rent. Avoid. read more
