Out of all the radio stations in the DFW metroplex area, this is my favorite. They play a wide…read morevariety of country music from the 80s, 90s, 70s, 60s and 50s. I enjoy hearing artists such as George Strait, Randy Travis, Merle Haggard, Don Williams, Buck Owens, Ray Price, Charley Pride, Charlie Rich and Tammy Wynette. Country Legends 92.1 serves a growing market of people who enjoy country music the way it used to be, before it was polluted by the current Nashville sound that seems to be a bad imitation of southern rock and 80s hair band power ballads. Since when is Bon Jovi considered country? Is it because he wears a cowboy hat? Country Legends 92.1 has been a great alternative to other choices.I used to listen 95.3 The Range, until they changed their format, focusing more on the goat-voiced southern rock sounds of "Texas country" and the whole Red River scene that is popular in redneck circles in Oklahoma and Texas. Real country music is alive and well on Country Legends 92.1. I like going to Sundance Square in Ft. Worth and watching the DJ broadcast live through the window at the station.

Ranch FM took some getting used to for me. I like a little rock-n-roll, a little pop, and a little…read moreoutlaw and country classic. My mom and sister only listen to the ranch, so on road trips back home, I listened to it for hours. I then started occasionally started streaming it and it grew on me. In fact, I love some of the artists. I tried to listen to the new country station in San Francisco, and it is just crap. I wish I could get the Ranch in SF in my car. For a Texas girl far from home, its nice to hear songs about Texas and songs that have a special Texas flair. It's a tribute to the history of great country music. The only problem is that it makes me want to drink (in a good way), but I usually listen during the day. Artists seem to be treated like family. There seems to be a real committment to honor the fans and artists. I removed a star because the DJ's can be a little too folksy for my taste. (But maybe you will like that).
