First of all, she's a real gardener. She knows her plants and trees. She and her helper did an excellent job trimming the trees and plants in the yard. But, I did feel the job was stretched out to 3 days. She was charging by the hour. All in all they did a wonderful job. This is where things started to go downhill though. She initially wanted $250 for just one visit a month and an extra charge of $20 to come every two weeks to mow our tiny patch of grass. I was used to service once a week for $160 a month, so I couldn't understand what all she would be doing for $250 in one visit. Especially after the major trimming had already been done. She immediately cut the price to $125 for service twice a month. Still high but I thought I would give her a try just to have someone who really knew plant care. Big mistake! My day was supposed to be Wednesdays. She always had an excuse for showing up the next day or the day after that. Excuses went from taking care of her grandkids or her roommate was using the car. Her truck was supposedly in need of a part. Sometimes she gave me a heads up about being late or rescheduling and sometimes I had to text her to find out if she was coming or not. Basically, it always felt like her gardening business was a side hustle and she was fitting me in when it fit her schedule. Worst part, she reset my irrigation system (on my request) because some plants weren't getting enough water. But, I noticed that the system was coming on 3 times in the morning in the span of 1 and 1/2 hours and again in the evenings. I had puddles of water all over. When she came out to fix the system and some piping I assumed we were good. System still came on same length of time 4 times a day. Got my bill from the water company and it went up from $200+ to $800. Texted her about the water situation and a picture of the bill. Her response was that she had just walked in the house and needed to eat and hadn't read my text yet. Didn't hear back from her. 10 days later when it was supposed to be her day to show up and she hadn't, I texted her to see if she was coming. Of course, she had her grandkids and wouldn't be here until tomorrow. I basically told her don't bother. What a nightmare of a person. Fortunately, my Nextdoor neighbor's gardener set the water system correctly. He couldn't believe how it was set previously. Needless to say, I have a new gardener! read more
