However, if you're curious, other than the name it's not like the run of the mill Best Westerns that you'll experience in Omaha, Nebraska. For the record, I've never been to Omaha, Nebraska, but I'm certain it's quite lovely and the Best Westerns there are equally lovely. As I digress, this location is very European, with dare I say (write), smaller rooms and the traditional flavor, if you will. Very nice though, with great staff whose English was top notch! A very small, but accommodating, bar with a good selection of local Bamberg beer, and the breakfast buffet? Oh my goodness! Amazing!!! It's centrally located within walking distance to many of the tourist sites and I'd oh so stay there again! In fact, I will this coming summer on my next trip to Bamberg. If you're in the area, want a nice, clean and comfortable hotel at a very reasonable price, do yourself a solid and stay here. You'll be glad you did.

It's about 150-200 yards away, nice cobblestone and down hill. When i arrived (after it closed at 8PM) the very friendly clerk explained what to do over the phone. It was a challenge to find the parking and.....it was full. He said to parallel park. Hope that works AM when guest want to leave. First impression, it's not my kind of hotel, I should have known better. Beautiful building very old and 3 years since renovations and even though nicely done, the wood floor shows wear. I had trouble finding my room #3 even though they gave me a map. It's door and several others are hidden behind another door without any signs. Why? Btw I was on the lower floor, I figure if you are on the upper levels you need to haul your language up to the room. I did not see a lift. More details in the morning and by daylight. Of checking out some very very nice bars and restaurants, I can recommend "Kachelofen ". Bamberg is a very nice, old, beautiful city. Must see.

After having a really lackluster experience traveling from a different city in Germany we were feeling pretty run down. By the time we put our bags down in our room we knew things were looking up! The room was clean, bright and airy, with big windows. The bed was super comfy with nice bedding and pillows. The building was an older building but beautifully maintained. You could tell there was a lot of pride in its upkeep. The location couldn't have been more centrally located in the old town. Minutes away from all the historic breweries. Needless to say we really loved it here and couldn't recommend it enough. Exactly what we needed.

Staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was very good. The location two blocks from the rathaus is great. Bamberg is an easily walked city and this location is close to both sides of the Regnitz River with the dom only a couple blocks walk as well. This is a very nice hotel that we like a lot. Beware their prices are increasing pretty dramatically in 2014 (about € 20 per night more). To be fair their prices have been stable in the three or four years we've been staying here so an increase is not out of order.

This was the worse customer service I have ever experienced. The woman running the front desk and…read morethose managing the breakfast made us feel like we were very unwelcomed. We were greeted with shortness and any attempt to ask a question (using google translator, we did not expect people to speak English to us) resulted in what seemed like frank hostility. As this was the middle of a long trip, we had a small amount of laundry to wash (mostly children's underwear, socks, shorts and shirts). I asked the front desk multiple times how much it would cost, and she told me "I can't tell you." On the second day, as we found no other close alternative, I brought down a small bag (enough to fill a very small sized laundry basket) and asked again. The woman and the front pointed to the ground and told me "there." Again, I could not get a price, even with the laundry in front of us. Much to my shock, we were charged 167 euros on check out for this. When I asked why she hadn't told me roughly how expensive it would be, she began yelling at me until I left. After checking out, I had a lengthy email exchange with the hotel. IN one email they sent me photo of a pricing list that clearly existed somewhere but was never offered when I asked. They promised to refund a very small nominal fee but that was never acted upon despite multiple follow up emails. As for location, that is great. The room was large, but without a fan or air conditioner (typical and not expected). However, because of the great location, it was quite noisy with the windows open. In all, this was truly the worst hotel experience I have had in all my travels throughout 40+ countries. It was unclear if hostile customer experience was based on where we were traveling from, because we had a child with us (a quiet 9 year old), or the norm for the hotel.

Rooms: Bed and Breakfast style rooms with no thrills. Price: Comparable to other hotels with worse locations. Food: Breakfast is free and has plenty of options. Ate outside several nights and had great experience. Food was not bad or pricey.
