Kristen Hook is the best photographer I have ever worked with. I had Kristen photograph my engagement photos at Ho'omaluhia botanical gardens, and she was more than happy to do some hiking into the gardens to get some beautiful shots! We loved the photos so much, that we had her do our wedding photos next. We had our wedding at Waialae Country Club and Kristen did some research before the big day, going down to the location prior to get a current idea of good photo ops, etc. At the wedding, Kristen was busy getting the traditional photos that me and my husband wanted, but also wonderful candids which are always the best!! Prior to the wedding, Kristen met me at another location where the bridesmaids and I were getting ready, set up photos of the dresses, rings, champagne toast, and took excellent photos of everyone getting ready. Since I was busy getting hair and make up done for a while, I wasn't involved in everyone getting ready, but when I got the photos back, it was so heart touching and special to see the photos that Kristen had taken of my best friends and family, getting ready. Wedding day goes by extremely fast, and as a bride and groom, you miss a lot of just hanging out, having fun with all your guests, so it was wonderful to see photos of all our friends and family having fun, dancing, eating, and laughing. I can't pick any bad photos from the lot, so I will be developing over 2500 photos at Costco. Thank goodness for a Costco gift card as a wedding present! Working with Kristen wasn't work. It was more like meeting up with a friend at the first time when we discussed our options and so much more even when she showed up on our wedding day! I, the bride, was a little nervous, because we were running late in getting ready. Kristen reassured us all though that this was perfectly normal, which really calmed me down! Thank you! She even was able to take some really great "getting ready" shots. As we were indeed a little late, we both so appreciated how Kristen would make the family pics and guest pics still happen before our private sunset session. She was very clear and direct in her communication and what could have been confusing and stressful because of the lack of time turned out in beautiful pictures! One of the best parts for me was the sunset session were she arranged the lightning and everything so perfectly. But what I truly love is that she captured all our emotions and deep moments we had, a lot of hugs and laughter with our guests. Mahalo uni loa for so many incredible pictures! My husband and I eloped to Hawaii in April and Kristen we were referred to Kristen through our officiate. With photos being THE most important thing to me for our wedding, it was a little scary not knowing the photographer. With that being said, I couldn't have had a better photographer if I had hand-picked her myself! From the very first interaction with her, we felt completely happy with our choice. Hawaii is also so expensive and Kristen did break our bank! My Husband and I hired Hook Photography as our wedding photographer this past June, and all we can say is that Kristen is awesome! We first heard about Kristen on theknot.com and set up a meeting with her soon after that. We knew as soon as we met her that we wanted to work with her. She is so incredibly down to earth and creative, we knew she was just what we were looking for, and we were not let down! We used Hook Photography for our wedding day, and were not disappointed. Upon meeting Kristen for the first time, we connected very quickly and my husband and I both felt that she understood what we were looking for, and how to capture it. Such a specific thing is very hard to communicate, so of course we were nervous while awaiting the photos....but my goodness, she captured almost every single part of our day and thank goodness! They aren't kidding when they say your wedding day goes by so fast and practically flashes before your eyes. I am so happy that Kristen was with us during every step, because I don't think I would have remembered it quite like she captured it. She has an incredibly creative eye for details, and while we only had 30 people attending the wedding, they were a rambunctious crowd that she was able to confidently manage :) I would absolutely recommend Kristen for your special day. She has been doing my wife's family photos for years now and when my wife and I decided to get married, it was a no brainer to use Kristen. She was professional and knew exactly what she wanted to do, her flexibility and schedule were awesome. We took pictures on Lanikai Beach and at Mid- Pacific country club which is where the wedding was. We only had three hours with her but she was very good at using her time wisely. I think we had over 1,000 pictures. She was very quick with the getting us our photos after the fact. We got to see all of our pictures online and she also sent us CDs with everything. Priceless Pictures! When looking for a photographer I was impressed by Kristen's portfolio. I was also impressed by her ability to be professional and extremely approachable. My husband and I eloped and got married on the beach. Kristen not only acted as our photographer but also provided additional assistance on 'the day of' that went above and beyond her responsibilities as the photographer. Kristen made our wedding day so much easier and enjoyable than it otherwise would have been. We knew our wedding photos were going to be amazing, but we were not prepared for the works of art that she sent to us. I am so happy to have those priceless pictures to remember my wedding day by. My family and I vacationed in Hawaii this January. I knew I wanted to have a professional photographer take our pictures while in Hawaii because we rarely are all together at the same time. I found Kristen online and was worried about never meeting her, but I talked to her on the phone and she was so sweet and answered all of my questions. She helped me find a video person also. She did my June, 27 wedding in Kailua and I could have not found a more amazing photographer! My pictures are gorgeous! At first we had a little sprinkle but you can not even tell in the pictures. The background of my pictures look fake that's how perfect they are! She captured some breath taking moments and is very creative. My mom cried when she looked at the pictures. Choosing a photographer for our destination wedding was a very important decision and we could not be happier. Not only was she incredibly nice and easygoing Kristen is amazing, friendly and professional! We also had added a second photographer to our package- Marta and she too was amazing, friendly and laid back - she even climbed a tree for us to take shots - just awesome!! Kristen was perfect for our large and chaotic family. She took advantage of photo opportunities as they came up for family groups, was very patient, and sent us back amazing photos. I was really impressed that as we neared the end of our time, she was more than willing to go to yet one more setting to catch some posed and candid shots, she was very generous with her time. I LOVE my wedding photos. I am VERY picky and did a lot of research, Kristen's photos just popped out at me like a artist. She is so detailed and creative. We went to Oahu and contacted Kristen for a family sunset photo shoot on Keiki beach. I consider myself pretty particular when it comes to photography and prefer artistic more candid shots than traditional posed pictures. She was amazing and there are so many good shots I cannot pick favorites! Super stoked I decided to do this and beyond happy at how they turned out. I have a 1 and 3 year old and she was great working with them. It is always stressful taking pictures with two young kids but she did a great job keeping everyone happy and calm and they turned out great. Kristin is amazing!!! She took our engagement photos on Lanikai beach in March and the photos are beautiful. Everything we wanted and more. My family and I got pictures taken from Kristen in hawaii and I couldn't be happier with the outcome! She gives great direction, very sweet, has great creativity for the picture and is super patient.
