Harpers is a rare gem to have in this area, and we're lucky to have them. The staff are all very fashion-forward, and are all more than capable to send you on your way looking sharper than when you came in. The store itself is very upscale, and feels like a place you'd find on Savile Row (without the Savile Row prices.) Really great seasonal selections, with a lot of well-curated accessories available. Their custom garments are where they really shine however. With hundreds of fabrics, linings, buttons, and styles to choose from, it is always a joy creating something that is uniquely yours. I'm looking forward to my next custom piece.

My wife, I will state that she is "height challenged"…read more When we were first married, I bought her a sweater for Christmas. This is when I learned about petite sizes for women. Now in 2026, I can go into any women's clothing store and buy her the perfect sized outfit. While passing through State College PA, I noticed a Talbots. Not an Outlet store but a retail store (There's a difference) After lunch I decided to stop by and browse to see if there are any sales. What a well laid out store! There's no reason for a salesperson, in the back of the store there is a petite section. Perfect! I found so many items, I was looking for summer clothing but all the items are now for the fall. I was able to find a beautiful petite fall sweater. Walking to the register, I asked if there are any discounts? I gave them my email address and was able to receive an additional discount on the already store wide discount. I came back home, my wife loved her sweater which fit her perfectly. Her favorite store is Talbots, she loves the quality of the clothing and they have the perfect sizing. Talbots, you rock! Thank you for the shopping experience.

The store now resembles a bargain basement closeout. All the racks and displays are packed with very low quality items. The employees used to be nicely dressed and very helpful. So Urban Outfitters has finally made its way to State College. Located right in the heart of…read moredowntown State College is where you can find a haven for college kids. This Urban is pretty much the same cookie cutter layout that you'd find in any major city or mall. The store itself is split into two floors, with the first floor dedicated to women, and the second floor to men and other misc items. Traffic throughout the store isn't too bad throughout the week, as students are scattered around downtown and campus so there isn't really ever a line here. As far as the selection goes, it pretty much has everything you'd find at a full-fledged Urban Outfitters. From shoes, to random books, to clothes, you'll find them all over at Urban. This place is great for the college student who's on a budget, but on the downside, the quality of the clothing and other things sold here is mediocre. For an older individual who wants more quality items, you probably would want to shy away from Urban. Just come here to buy a t-shirt for $20, and if it rips after 5x of wear, then oh well!

One very minor criticism: they close the fitting room in early evening and replace it with a tent like structure near the fitting room with a capacity of two customers, one in each "roomette." That's not such a big deal, certainly not big enough to knock down that fifth star. Oh... and 10% discount for seniors on Tuesdays. (Guess which day we go each week!)
