The Gondola will take you to 2 stations, half way and the top of the mountain. If you get there early enough you could do both maybe I only had to to go straight up the mountain and walk both side up top. Amazing view of the mountains and mother nature's beauty. The Germans preserve nature so well and I'm very thankful.

I can't hate on the Wankbahn…read more 1. Ok, it's childish - but "WankBahn" is a little funny if you're an English speaker. Even better is the bar at the top called the Wank Haus. 2. It's WAY cheaper than the Zupspitze ascent at €22 pp. The problem with going up the Zugspitze (besides the crazy cost) is that it takes a long time and of course, you can't see the Zugspitze when you're on it! 3. Burg Wank is about 1800m tall, so you get a tremendous view of Zugspitze and the whole local range. Plus if it's cloudy or crappy at higher altitude it my be just fine here. 4. Instead of a big cable car, you get a tiny 4 person car. It's terrifying!!!! But the views are worth it. 5. I think far fewer tourists go up this cable car, so it's likely to be much less crowded at peak times. Today, there were maybe 4-5 people at the peak total. It was my idea to ride a cable car, and I picked the WankBahn so we could see Zugspitze and save some Euros. I'm terrified of heights so imagine my face when we reached the station after a terrifying ascent...only to find that we were just halfway and the second half was WAY steeper. I almost schiesse'd my pants....but we made it safely and took some amazing photos. So, if you're in the area and are looking for something to do - check out the WankBahn!

Pretty and fun!…read more After checking out the nearby castles, we came to Tegelberg and took the Tegelbergbahn up to the restaurant for lunch with a view. It was the middle of the winter so the view was snowy and it was COLD up top! It was easy to buy tickets and we boarded the gondola easily. It did make some kind of scary creaking noises with the ice cracking and shifting, but we made it to the top and back! There were a few skiiers using the gondola to drop in at the top of the mountain Would be fun to see this all through the seasons.

If only it wasn't so crowded! The Rodelbahn is the thing to do in the summer through the mountains…read morein Baveria. We visited Blombergbahn in Bad Toelz, just outside Munich on a Saturday. We arrived pretty early, but it got crowded pretty quickly. There were so many riders on the Rodelbahn that you had to go slow to avoid crashing into the car in front of you. When you were able to get some speed, it was really enjoyable. The cost per ride was kind of expensive. There is an option at night for unlimited rides for a fixed price. That seems more reasonable.

I arrived on a Sunday. Little did I know, everything's closed on Sundays. After checking into the hotel, my husband and I walked straight over to the cable car only to see that it was closed for maintenance. The Innsbruck cable car takes you from the city center to the top of the Nordkette mountain for spectacular views. Since it was closed, there was no one to ask if there were other ways up...it was a bit of a let down, so we just walked back to town and had lunch.

We went to the top of Innsbruck and ate at the restaurant one stop below. The cable cars feel super safe and the trip up and down feels super quick. Such a fun day and would definitely recommend to ANYONE who is in the area. It's a once in a lifetime view and experience.
