My "simple siding problem" involved mold and rot on studs, floor joists, and plywood. The simple and efficient fix would be to replace the wall. I asked if there was a way to not sacrifice wainscoting, paneling, and wallpaper to remedy the problem. I really appreciate that Brandon and his crew are willing to work with the client and solve issues in a way that honors requests. How refreshing to have someone who really listens and tries to make things work out to the clients' satisfaction. I have found Brandon's pricing to be fair and competitive. Whatever he has promised, he will follow through. After completing the initial project, I hired Brandon and his crew for two additional projects within the year. One project was, again, siding issues with underlying mold and rot underneath the fireplace. Again, project was completed keeping my priorities in mind. The last project was the removal of a full roof over the patio. I was out of town when the job was done. When I returned, I expected to find remnants of the old structure, or some visible evidence, of the structure that had been attached to the outer wall. Amazingly, the wall looks pristine; no evidence that there was ever an attached roofline. I have never seen Brandon, or his crew, leave at the end of the day without cleaning up before they go. Likewise, at the end of the project he is fastidious in his clean-up. I have future projects to undertake and will definitely call Brandon at Flooded Timber to see if it's a job for him to pursue. Castlewood Construction was on a list of approved contractors from the vendor. We played phone tag for a couple of days, and then was able to talk with the owner, Tom Pallinger, who stated that he had installed quite a few of these patio covers. After he looked at the plans that I forwarded from Central Valley Awning, he agreed to do the job for slightly more than Central Valley had stated in their ads. This was okay because the job was quite complex with both patio covers attaching to each side of a long, elevated solar panel array in the middle that was to provide shade from the sun for my Bocce court that ran under the new covers and the existing solar array. Well, Tom showed up on schedule after driving about 100 miles, only to find that some of the parts were missing. So the job was put on hold for a couple of weeks until the correct parts arrived at my house. Did I mention that not enough parts arrived? He could only install one patio cover on the first day. So Tom contacted the vendor, stated the problem and got a promise that the missing parts would be shipped out and arrive the next morning. They did, and Tom was able to complete the job by day's end of the the second day. Considering that I did not do a really great job of installing the upright posts in concrete in quite as straight line as I would have liked and they were not exactly level, Tom had a lot of extra work just correcting my mistakes. Suffice it to say that he did a masterful job of installing the covers over the existing Bocce Court and attaching them to the existing solar panels. It looks great!!! He and his able-bodied assistant cleaned the job site thoroughly and were far more professional than I might have been given the circumstances and delays. Tom Pallinger is a consumate professional, and his company, Castlewood Construction certainly deserves your consideration. Considering the fantastic value I received for the money paid, I would not hesitate to use him again.

I have never been treated so poorly by a contractor -- the owner was extremely unprofessional throughout the process. Major issues included poor quality work, inaccurate estimating, sloppy note-taking, and disorganized accounting. Communication was inconsistent, and we were left feeling frustrated and disrespected more than once. I'll share more details once I've had a bit of distance from this experience, but for now, I strongly recommend continuing your search. This is not a company I would ever do business with again.

My 2-story house is on a hillside in Cameron Park and the east side gets brutalized by the sun and…read morerain. So after 35 years it needed a lot of siding and all 3 attached exterior decks on the slope side replaced. Separate supports had to be constructed for 2 of the decks because the original joists they rested on that extended from within the main structure of the house could not be completely replaced, thus complicating the task considerably, but the new design is both solid and visually pleasing. Greg and his crew of up to 5 men did a fantastic job in just 2 weeks working long hours in the blazing 100+ degree weather. They were all professional and courteous, left no detail unattended, and cleaned up after themselves when the job was done. The price was fair and Greg made sure everything was to my satisfaction even coming back afterwards to add a couple of finishing touches I requested. Greg's team leader Enrique demonstrated unmistakable pride of craftmanship throughout the process and it really shows in the completed job. I would definitely have them back again.
