The entire menu at Pyra Bar is centered on one ingredient: the potato. Jacket (baked) potatoes,…read morepotato pancakes, and potato casseroles, each served with a different sauce or toppings. The Sledzionko came with a mixture of herring, pickles, apples, and onion in a chilled sour cream sauce; and the LO!Sos came with a creamy sauce of mascarpone, sour cream, lemon, dill, and chives topped with a slice of smoked salmon. Both dishes came with three chunks of roasted potato, which had crispy skin and were nicely seasoned with salt, dill, and chives. We also got a creamy coleslaw on the side to go with the potatoes, but my favorite part was definitely the herring salad, which had just the right balance of briney/seafoody flavors, a refreshing crunch, and a creamy, herbaceous sauce!

Desserts were also good, specially the Tart with strawberries and white chocolate mousse, simply amazing! The place has a nice vibe, I believe there are at least 2 floors but I only went to the bottom floor. Waiters speak English and are very polite and helpful. Overall the only complaint as I stated in the beginning was the chairs which were a tad uncomfortable.

Delicious, modern Polish cuisine in a beautiful, intimate setting, and extremely reasonable prices…read moreif you're coming from the US or Euro Zone. This is foodie heaven. There's a lot to taste and try, much of it made in-house at the restaurant or their sister restaurant. It's a small place, only 7-8 tables, three in front, a few more in the back. Well-decorated, with modern finishes. This restaurant does the amuse bouche thing. That is, I ordered a soup, a main course, and a dessert, and before and in between these courses, I was served two other tiny courses that were of the whim of the chef, as well as three made-in-house drink samples. One was a small black rye piece of toast topped Brussels caviar and fish, and the other was a petite slide of beef tongue topped with red beet mousse. Both were tasty and fascinating. The drinks were a plum wine and a set of their fermented juices, derived from traditional Polish recipes for fermented red beet juice and fermented black rye bread. Both were very fascinating to taste. The soup consisted of a broth with white sausage and pierogi, and these pierogis were the best I've tasted anywhere in Poland, after 10 days in this country and 3 cities. So, for 75zl + service (about US$20/€17), I got 5 courses and 3 drinks courses, all tasty. Quite an upscale meal! Service was efficient and friendly. Everyone seemed to know English well. Many items they make in-house at this restaurant or their sister restaurant, such as their black rye bread, their plum wine liquor, their Polish fermented juices, and I'm sure other things. They seem to take pride in their Polish culinary heritage and I love that they have a passion for bringing a modern interpretation of Polish cuisine. Bathrooms: Spacious, modern, and very, very clean. Beautifully decorated.

-= ENGLISH =- (deutsch unten)…read more Good news first: They have an english menu! But the vegan dishes are not marked, you have to guess or to ask. Sadly you can only eat inside. The walls have a bright, colorful painting and the rooms are cramped with tables. This will create some trouble if you actually want to get to a table, or somewhere else, even if there are only a dozen people in there. On the other hand you have a lot of choices what you want to eat, and several of them are vegan. Sadly, again, the clerks don't seem to be very experienced with that. They can serve it, but just because of their routine they will pour yogurt sauce over your salad. Watch them closely and yell at the right time ;) The food itself is okay, but nothing special. Try the malt beer, if you dare.
