The place was empty but we reminded ourselves that dinner starts a bit later here. We were greeted with a complimentary Ouzo shot (which continued to be refilled) & started with the Tarama. The dip came in 4 scoops and was pink. Although I've never seen pink Tarama, It wasn't the best Tarama that I've ever had and was okay. (But wouldn't order this one again) We also ordered Spanakopita which we enjoyed. For main, we had the "grilled meat for one"which was excellent (tasty grilled chicken, pork & Gyros!) but is really "Grilled meat for 2 or 3." We ended up sharing this which was a good idea as we couldn't finish it. After dinner, we received complimentary Cognac, espresso and dessert (fruit, yogurt) which was a nice touch and the restaurant was packed by the end of our meal. Not special in any way, simply grilled. Overall the dishes are large and greasy and heavy. 90% of the people here eat meat. The mussels appetizer we didn't really enjoy (personal preference). The appetizer plate allowed us to taste a bit from everything. What's good are the grilled eggplants and the white creamy dip (not tzaziki). Besides that I'd also recommend to skip the plate, everything else was ok. Why would I still give 4 stars? - The Service is very thoughtful! You get free shots and if you don't drink them, they have us espresso for free. You get fruits at the end. Just overall asteria seems to care about the experience their customers are having!

The servers are very attentive (and some, quite attractive;-) I never experienced a long wait and everybody is treated like family. At the end of your stay they even send you home with a little something on the house (coffee,ouzo,whatever you like)... I cannot wait to come back to Berlin to go back to my favorite place and food!!'

We all shared a bit, with a chicken skewer plate, gyro meat, Greek lemon potatoes, fried garlic potatoes, hummus, pita, feta from the oven, and grilled octopus. There are tons of options, including many vegetarian ones, and I have yet to try a dish that wasn't beautifully made, with balanced, light flavors. There are lots of beans, lentils, vegetables, yogurt-based sauces, olives, cheeses, stews, bread, tea, three or four variety of starchs--rice, couscous, bulgur, etc-, burek, fried stuff, baked stuff, boiled stuff.... Sometimes, if I need to eat one meal in a day, I'll go here. Second: the people that work here come from various places--Turkey, Lebanon, Germany, Cuba...ALL of them (that I've met) are friendly, generous, and welcoming (and patient as I point at the different foods to pile my plate with!). The atmosphere of the restaurant is awesome: a clean, simple yet warm vibe, classical music playing, and a back room where you can look onto the back yard. Third: you are getting ALL of this for either 7 or 9 Euro. I come from NYC, where one can easily--and in fact often does--pay twice that amount for food half as good. SUPPORT places like this, that offer lovingly made, healthy, delicious food for good prices....this is my favorite restaurant BY FAR in the neighborhood, and there are many other good ones here. I was quite amazed at how much food could fit on one plate! The service was amazing & such heart-felt. I would recommend this place to anyone!
