There were some issues that made me hesitate giving this a four star rating, but the positives…read moredefinitely outweighed the negatives so I jumped at the chance to give this area my seal of approval. There is so much that I love about this playground. I love that the playground itself has shaded areas built into it. I love that there's a variety of equipment for different ages. I love that you can almost launch yourself off of some of the slides. I love that it's fully fenced. I love that there's even a ramp onto the playground for those children who need wheels to get around. I love that apart from the ramp there's still about four different ways to actually get on to the playground. Can you tell I'm excited? BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!! I love that there sheltered table/chairs AND a working drinking fountain so close to the playground. I love that there's a basketball hoop not too far away. I love that you can have dogs in the park (but not in the fenced off playground area). I love that there's a BBQ! I LOVE IT!!! SO why didn't I give this a five star rating???? Because there's no toilets :-( This IS a destination playground for me because I don't have to drive far to get to it. I would however, prefer to have toilets at a playground that I drove across town to get to. This is a wonderful place....a 'must play' playground. *Dogs allowed (not in playground area)* *WORKING drinking fountain* *Sheltered table/chairs* *Fenced playground area* *Basketball hoop*

Ideally, this would be a five star rating but I had to leave room for improvement. This little…read moreripper of a park is getting MORE equipment added to it so I had to leave an extra star for a review at a later stage. If your dog or your child needs room to run about, this is the place to come. There is SO much room! The playground is fairly new and the entire play equipment area has a rubber floor. There are electronic toilets, BBQ, sheltered table/chair area, and a drinking fountain that needs a little servicing. It's one of those wonderful drinking fountains that have a lower collection spot for the off-run of water so the four legged pooches can have a drink also. Attached is also a tap. To be honest, if it wasn't such a great set up, the play equipment wouldn't be all that great. This is definitely a toddler park with one piece of equipment that reminds me of swinging around on the old lop sided hill hoist (which isn't suited for toddlers at all). This is a lovely place to be. The BBQ looks like it's the oldest piece of equipment of the whole area but it still looks like it gets used (it was a rainy day, I didn't try myself). This has all the makings of a wonderful 'destination playground' so hopefully the new equipment can help it get that one last star. *Dogs allowed (bags available)* *Drinking fountain (needs servicing)* *Sheltered table/chair* *entire rubber flooring*

Oooo, this one JUST missed out on a five star review but man, is this place fun. The play equipment…read moreis kind of average except it has one rather large draw card up its sleeve..........a flying fox! I'm not talking about the usual three meter metal structure that you see at a lot of playgrounds, and in its own right, is a lot of fun. I'm talking about a real swinging, cable, go-from-up-high-and-then-lower flying fox! As I was leaving a car pulled up with 2 girls about aged 9-10. They burst out of the car doors yelling "Yay! I LOVE this playground!" I wiped a small tear from my eye (joke) and walked away smiling. This is what playgrounds should be about. They should be a place where children laugh and run and play and balance and fall over, and try again, and get better at doing things every time they go there. The girls ran straight over to the flying fox and I can imagine they would have been there for quite some time. This playground also has a sheltered seating area in between the flying fox and the other playground equipment. There was a working drinking fountain but no toilets. *Dogs on leash at all times* *Some shelter and seats* *No toilets* *Drinking fountain*

We stopped here to eat our lunch the other day when we were out. Purely because it was nice and…read moreshady and had somewhere undercover for us to sit down at an actual table too. And when we turned up it was nice and quiet with no one else there. Not for long..... We had barely started eating when two dads rock up with their daughters (4 of them) for school holidays play obviously. Nice to see. They put sunscreen on and then ran straight to the flying fox. They took it in turns and did not stop or even look at any other play equipment. And the screams from 4 young girls on that type of equipment. Serious headache. So when we finished lunch my son went on the playground for a while and we both had fun with the spinning thing (even tho part of it was broken when we went, come to think of it two of the lights on the pathway were broken too). In the end I said to him let's go, you can go on the flying fox another day. I had warned him as soon as they got out of the car that if he wanted a go he better put his food down and go now before they get there, but he decided food was more important at the time). Plus another group came down as well with their cricket stuff and played on the grassed area. o it quite a popular place and we will probably visit there again one day so he can have a shot on the flying fox. Fifth star must be with the toilets because they aren't here either :-(

Five stars for what it was, One star for what it has become…read more Sadly, this reserve has been over-modernised, it's once beautiful green open spaces have been replaced by grey cement and brown bark chips. Large areas of grassy areas have been rendered useless in the name of a "beautification" that suits no purpose other than to improve the view from a house on Heron Way. Heron Way reserve was once fit to cater for community events or family picnics, sadly the "improvements" now render it unsuitable for any sort of community event. The ANZAC memorial was a nice addition but the dawn service highlights the inability of the area, and the Marion council, to accommodate more than a dozen people at a time. Don't get your hopes up for a return of the soapbox derby, the reserve could handle neither the crowd or the Mr Whippy van. There used to be a large, safe playground that would accommodate a small army of kids, this has been replaced by a play space for two and an area guaranteed to result in injuries to children engaging in anything more boisterous than birdwatching. Now there is election motivated talk of a rock pool that some estimates have bringing an additional 100k visitors to the reserve. How on earth is that going to happen and why would we want it to? Let Hallett Cove be Hallett Cove, not everything has to be a tourist attraction or art installation.

It doesn't matter if you've bought fish and chips, or using the BBQ's or grabbed some food from the Boatshed Cafe, the view over the water will make anything taste just that bit better. The playground itself really isn't too bad. It's lots of fun for the children and while it may not look too extensive, the older children like to use it as well as the younger children. If you have never been to Hallett Cove before, even if you don't have children, make sure it's on your 'Places to Go' list. If you feel like throwing your feet up and swinging on a swing, no one will look at you strangely. This is a place full of goodness and fun. If you have a dog, they must be under control and not near the play ground, other than that there's plenty of room for them to run about. They are also allowed on the beach. Bags are provided so PLEASE pick up after them so everyone can keep enjoying this area. More often than not the sheltered table/chair areas are taken from mid morning so if you want to have a birthday party or gathering, get in early! There aren't any drinking fountains but there are taps at each of the shelters. *Dogs allowed* *Sheltered table/chair*

This hidden away playground is the last of the playgrounds in this area before you get to Marino…read more It's a lovely little neighbourhood playground set up in three different sections all within the one strip of land. There are swings and two playground 'forts'. The whole area is fenced with the wooden bollards you can see in the photos. Generally, it's a great little playground that would suit most age groups. For those with younger children, you may need to walk between the different sections because they won't be able to use all of the equipment. For those with older children, there's a lovely new table/chair under a tree where you can sit back and watch the frivolity (if you're not in the playing mood, that is!!). Quite a nice little area. This isn't a destination playground, but for someone living close by, it sure could be. *Dogs allowed (you MUST pick up after them!)* *No drinking fountain* *table/chair under tree*

Here, it is blissfully quiet and calm, and you can sit and watch lots of birds while your kiddies are playing on the equipment. We sat at the only table at the reserve - shame there aren't more! But there are 3 playground areas, so my partner's 5 year old was quite happy playing on the range of equipment. It's not fancy, but it's a basic playground. Being so close to home, we would definitely come here again. It would get an extra star if there was extra seating ;)

YEEEEEEHAAAAAAA! After reviewing playgrounds from the Onkaparinga City Council and moving onto City…read moreof Marion playgrounds, it's clear to see who has the money to put into community areas. This playground sure was a surprise to me. It's bright, colourful, engaging, suitable for a variety of ages and down right F.U.N.! The City of Marion are pumping a whole lot of money into upgrading their playgrounds and I hope it's making a difference. If I lived close to this playground, I would most certainly be making the most of it, especially on a Sunday when the children are complaining that there's nothing to do. This is a lovely place and I'm sure children could spend quite some time here having fun. It isn't fenced. There isn't a drinking fountain and there isn't any direct shade over any of the playground or seating BUT there is a lovely new table/chair combo and a bench seat. The playground is so refreshing, especially being so close to playgrounds from the Onkaparinga City Council. There's lots to do but I probably wouldn't bother about coming here for children under 3....unless they like to swing a lot. I apologise for there only being one photo. I took about four (you know how I love to show off a good playground!!!) but something went wrong with my phone/camera and I only ended up with one (blame the phone, not me ;-) ) Room to kick a ball but it's not a huge space and it's not fenced. *Dogs allowed, under control* *No drinking fountain* *table/chairs but not under shade*
