At the end of our meal, I cannot stop wanting to check the bill to make sure what exactly what I ordered. But whether my flustering attitude or poor German terrified the old lady staff. She responded quite rude from my opinion. She said " don't touch the bill if you're not the one to pay the bill! (Of course I want to pay, but need to check exactly which I order!)" . And she was acting this, avoiding me so many time when I just tried to look at the bill! That's a clear message: "you don't deserve my patience, if you don't pay (all her thinking)" Childish old lady and hurt my feeling a lot. 100% food with 0% service, never be sure when my second visit is, since it's also people, not food, that repel me. The main course was ordered à la carte, so I had a pizza which was recommended by various people before. The size of the pizza is absolutely incredible and it's a bit of a challenge to cut it on the given plate. Besides the necessary effort to finally get to the first slice, it's absolutely worth. It's a classic italian style pizza which tastes absolutely delicious. We finished the meal with huge plates with dessert with a large variety of sweets. After almost finishing my pizza I swore not to touch the dessert, but I couldn't resist when I saw it. Really yummy. The service was very friendly and always around if you needed something. When we first got there, a huge line of people was waiting outside to get a table. After we had dinner, I totally get why people are eager to get a table there. So you better get a reservation before going there.

Even though the place is always tight, hot and claustrophobic inside, it has very nice "Biergarten-like" seats outside. You can also watch the soccer games on a large flat screen TV inside, though you should expect to feel like packed-sardines on such occasions, especially at weekends. :) In terms of food, it is THE BEST place to have falafel, be it a dürüm or sandwich. I think its döner, which I believe is not 100% Kalbfleisch but mixture of turkey and calf, is not the best in town but still edible with the tasty sauces Botan offers. Same applies to lahmacuns; they taste good but there is always little amount of meat on top and the dough is never crispy but edible with condiments and sauces. They also serve pizzas, böreks and pommes but I have never tried any of those. Even though the number of condiments is limited and the quality of them is questionable from the sloppy cuts, Botan serves THE BEST home-made hot sauce in town, along with home-made (and very thick and garlicky) tzatziki and thick, sweet cocktail sauce. I even witnessed one old German couple coming to Botan just to ask for one bowl of that hot sauce, pro-bono. :) Also, the owner and the staff are very friendly guys who always insist you to have a cup of tea with them if they are not busy of course. :) Overall, I strongly recommend Botan for those (especially students) who aim to get full with tasty (and often or inevitably garlicky) food for a very reasonable price. Although their service and the atmosphere is quite nice and more than satisfactory, I cannot say the same about their food. To start with the appetizers, the mixed Italian platter, which you cannot get any idea about what's included in it from the menu, was catastrophically ordinary. It is ridiculous to pay this price for the small amount of few kinds of sautéed vegetables around a few cold squid pieces in the middle. About the pizzas, there was nothing special about the dough or ingredients of the pizza Parmigiana. Indeed it tasted like a pizza but I swear I tasted better frozen or Imbiss-style pizzas. Plastic-like aubergines, soggy basil leaves and thick dough...It was a huge disappointment. The same applies to calzone. Unfortunately, I should admit it was by far the worst calzone I have ever had. It was supposed to contain "Hackfleischsauce, Champignons, Schinken und Mozzarella." It is tragic that I realized it contained just a few pieces (5 to 10) of ground meat and just two small pieces of ham after eating exactly the half of calzone almost entirely stuffed with mushrooms. Either my expectations were high or the quality of the food was really bad, but in any case I believe Sapore is a place to avoid if you are into real, tasty Italian food that makes you feel happy at the end while you have better Italian restaurants with better price/performance ratio in both Poppelsdorf and Bonn in general.
