I paid $140 and was disappointed to find that they while they had cleaned the Flue Liner, they had not cleaned the creosote from the brick in the Smoke Chamber. I have left 4+ messages and did finally speak with a person who assured me that they would return my call which has not yet happed. I have attempted to reach out to this business but they appear not interested in responding to my concerns. I frustration, I have also submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and will probably end up buying a chimney brush at Home Deport and finish the work myself. The owner showed up at my home and the first thing I noticed was he smelled of alcohol as he greeted me. He said he remembered my house from a previous owners call for service a few years back. I have a wood stove in my basement and he went to "Inspect" it. What he did was open the door of the stove peer inside with a flashlight and said this looks fine, like it hasn't been used lately (It was but not by me but by the previous owner I bought the house in April of this year). He talked a bit and among other things told me the stove pipe going into the wall could easily be removed, but he never removed it to look in the flu. He then said he would go up top and have a look down to see what it looked like from there. This gave me some concern as he was clearly under the influence. I heard him on the roof briefly but have no idea if he really looked down the flu or did any type of inspection as he was off the roof before I could even get outside. He said I was fine to burn wood and use the stove and he would give me a receipt stating it was fine to use and that he had completed an inspection. He was going to charge me $79.95 for this service but he said give him $60 cash and he would mark it paid in full. I did and he left. I later went down to the stove and pulled out the pipe, which he never did, and discovered 1 inch of creosote and soot on the thimble pipe going into the flu. I looked into the thimble and flu with my camera and discovered that the thimble and the first segment of the flu had huge cracks. He never looked in there but was willing to give me a paper saying he inspected it and it was fine. I later purchased a cleaning brush myself and did the job and emptied a bucket full of soot from the cleaning. I just had another chimney inspector come out and he told me it WAS NOT good to burn. I would not trust Lake Erie sweeps to do anything at my home. He seemed like a nice guy, told me he had recently lost his son so maybe he is grieving. However, when I've told this story to a few others in the business they knew exactly who I was talking about... Bottom line I lost $60 for nothing of value in return. I struggled about writing this review because I felt a bit sorry for the guy but for safeties sake I felt compelled to give notice.

AVOID AVOID AVOID. INCOMPETENT OR FRAUDULENT…read more My father, Parker, and I contacted this business in September 2021 to have a chimney inspection performed at a house we had recently purchased. They came, scoped the chimney, and told us that the liner needed a complete replacement. The owner even went so far as to claim there had been a "massive" fire in the chimney and that the lining was cracked. He provided "evidence" of this by showing my father images of the inside of the chimney as he scoped it. Of course, to an untrained eye, anything (a gap between the liner pieces, etc) can look like a catastrophic issue. The Chimney Clinic quoted us $10,113.00 to repair our fireplace. I had thought this was high at the time, but decided to trust the "judgement" of the "expert". Given the extremely high cost we decided not to proceed at that point in time. Thinking the fireplace was lost, we paid $600 for an electric insert, $400 to have an outlet run so we could plug the insert in, and $300 to have the old gas insert and plumbing removed. Earlier this month, I had another company come and examine my chimney. Absolutely NOTHING was wrong with the chimney. It didn't even need cleaned. I was shocked, until he informed me of a local company that has been going around town providing inaccurate estimates to unsuspecting consumers. Thinking that this man may be biased or outright wrong, I hired ANOTHER company to come and inspect the chimney. Again, they said there is NOTHING wrong with my chimney. Not only that, they said the quote provided to me was "WAY TOO MUCH for a chimney repair". They performed some small repairs to the firebox and provided me with a certificate of inspection. The Chimney Clinic are either completely incompetent or outright fraudulent. Even their Google reviews appear to be fabricated as there are two different pages for the same business, listed under the same phone number. One has 1.8 stars, the other 5.0. How strange.... I have half a mind to take this charlatan to small claims court, but frankly, it's not worth the trouble. Take your business elsewhere and DO NOT, under any circumstance, trust this firm. I hope one day the owner is held to account for this.

These guys are the real deal - if you are in doubt, doubt no more and read…read more We reached out to 3 different companies to perform cleaning and level 2 chimney inspection and cleaning for a home we recently bought. 5 fireplaces, 4 gas inserts, one log burning, all in a historic 1870s home. Being out of state, we used Yelp and read good things. Pricing wise, they were not the cheapest, but there is a reason. FireTec was super communicative on what we are to expect, and super responsive to questions. They called to confirm the day of appointment, and showed up on time, masks on, shoe covers, and armful of floor pads and coverings (more on this later. The tech came and was friendly, respectful of the COVID situation, and careful with our home. Every fireplace they worked on was meticulously prepared and protected to ensure no damage or dirt would get on our floor. During the visit, they even updated me on findings as they went along and also how they were going to charge me less than estimated as certain chimneys did not require the level of inspection requested or originally thought to be needed. At the end, 3 of our gas inserts needed new control modules as the batteries leaked and damaged the units. They showed me the issue and again were transparent on what was needed. Now, I could leave the review as is, but this is what going above call of service means. The tech, bothered with a small finding in the video inspection, called me back after he left asking if he could come back and recheck one of our chimney. I am glad he did, as he discovered that one of our fireplaces was blocked off by previous owner, and it was not safe to be used. Being a father with 2 kids in the house, this is the kind of service expected. FireTec ordered the new gas inserts control modules and called me much earlier than the scheduled appointment asking if I was available to get the gas inserts fixed with the new control modules. Apparently their tech was freed up and available. Fast forward, our fireplaces are clean, inspected for safety, and gas inserts working as expected. And as if that wasn't enough, they send a thank you card. This is how you are customer centric. It's hard, but not impossible!
