Our toddler thrived at Koala Day Care. She started there as a baby and it was amazing watching her development from her time at Koala. Dee and her team create a safe and nurturing environment. We were always impressed by how kind the kids were to one another, a true, distinguishing trait of Koala. Our little one would come home singing new songs or saying new words that she learned while she was there. She would run into the Koala room in the morning without saying goodbye she was so excited. There is a great outdoor space for the kids too. Dee also hosts events for the parents throughout the year which was a nice way to get to know the other parents there. Dee and Olivia are amazing! My daughter has been with them for a year now. I know when she is there that she is well-cared-for and having fun. When I drop her off, she's sad to see me go, but when I get there after work, she literally runs away from me! She's having so much fun and doesn't want to leave. I've sen my daughter thrive at this daycare in the 7 months we've been with Dee and Olivia at Koala day care! They are so great with the kids and excellent care providers. They've worked together for over 20 years. I love that they spend much of the day active and outdoors. The set up is so safe and cute. I often have to drag my 22 month old out of there at the end of the day and she's always asking to go in when we're on our off days. I attended the Koala annual Christmas party and was impressed by how many alumni families were there that don't have kids currently enrolled. Perhaps you'll have a good experience at Koala Day Care -- our family didn't get that far. Dee told my wife that she had Wednesdays and Thursdays available, but when we showed up for our interview, she told us she had promised those spots to another family. It's ironic that Koala requires so much from the parents -- her "rulebook" for parents is several pages thick -- but her own business policies show a lack of integrity. We are so incredibly happy we found Koala Day Care for our son. As first time mom I was nervous to send my little one off to day care for the whole day, but Dee's warmth, care, experience, attention, and communication made me feel at ease. He has been attending now for 4 months. He absolutely adores Dee and Olivia ( her assistant) and they adore him back. As a parent, I couldn't ask for more. We were at Koala Day Care for 4 years (2 kids). My daughter started at 9 months old and my son was 4 months when he started going. It was the perfect place for my kids. They loved it! Dee and Olivia go above and beyond to care for the children. Dee's home is always spotlessly clean and completely catered to the little ones she cares for! And the outdoor space is perfect for little kids - there are tons of fun toys for them to stay engaged and a grassy area to play on with age appropriate play structures. Olivia has been working there for many years and is the most caring individual i have ever met!! She LOVES babies - that is clear from the moment you meet her and see her interacting with the babies and kids. And Dee is always thinking of new and engaging activities and making sure each kid's needs are being met constantly. We miss them so much now that our kids are in elementary school. read more

This day care met our needs at the beginning as we had a new baby in the family and our 2 yo daughter needed more stimulation and socialization. This was the perfect place for her. She had a friend already attending the day care and so had a familiar face to play with. She made lots of friends and the environment seemed nurturing and adequate for her. Not long after starting the program our daughter began to dread drop offs and would be anxious the night before knowing that the following day she would be in day care. We started experiencing rough drop offs filled with tears which evolved into screaming and clutching us to not let her go. Dee was patient at first and would help us with the gentle transition that we wanted to try. Quickly that changed and Dee insisted on a quick drop off. It was absolutely gut wrenching to hear our daughter wail as we left and drove away. We kept the communication open about this experience and our desire to try other approaches but quick drop offs is what Dee recommended. We trusted her judgement and continued. There was never an improvement and each morning we could begin to see Dee visibly annoyed by the drop off exchange which didn't help ease our apprehension leaving our crying daughter. Then at pick ups I began to notice that the ratio of older children to babies changed. There were a lot more babies than when we started. Many babies that were perched up in strollers while the older kids played or babies in play pens. Koala day care no longer appeared to be the place of nurturing stimulation and play. Our daughter was not happy about returning and Dee never voiced her comfort or concern over the matter, just visible annoyance and frustration. I believe there were far too many babies for her and her assistant, Olivia to care for while also engaging the older children. I don't feel my daughter got the attention she deserved while struggling with the transition of drop off. Dee would also verbally tell us our daughter was secured for a spot on a day that was not usually our normal day (check her calendar, etc) but upon said days she would suddenly not have room. This happened to our family twice, sending us in a frantic scramble to try and make other arraignments before we ultimately decided that Koala Day Care wasn't worth it. The love and support that we originally felt from Dee faded and we felt is was not right to continue to send our daughter to a place she dreaded and where our needs were not respected or met. I know there is far superior care in this neighborhood with a much more enriching environment. read more

We went here for 3 months. The details of our experience are trivial compared to the reason for the poor rating: the owner knowingly left 10 babies alone with her (amazing) assistant so she could go to the gym. She did not find a stand in to cover her absence as is the normal protocol. When I dropped off my daughter I counted 10 babies all in diapers aged 3 and under. I counted 3 times. Legally she could have left her assistant with 4 babies! She knows the state rules (she has to) but chose to disregard them, neglecting and endangering the children in the process. We immediately left and filed a complaint with the state. Do not send your kids here. All of the other good things that happened here are irrelevant if there aren't enough people to provide the most basic level of childcare. read more

Dee and Olivia have taken care of both my boys. Dee clearly loves kids. Both she and Olivia have a wonderful rapport with the children in their care. Dee has always been great at encouraging independence in my sons, helping them to learn boundaries, and offer useful suggestions with the multitude of issues that arise with babies and toddlers. Our son (just turned 3) has been going to Koala for 2 months now and my husband and I are very happy with the placement. He cried at dropoff for a week or 2, but it was soon clear that this was the typical transition stress kids go through when they start daycare. Since then he has always been happy when we pick him up and happy to go. Dee and Olivia are warm, easygoing women who are wonderful with children. They have been working together for 15 years, I think, which speaks to their reliability, commitment, and compatibility. There's and emphasis on outside play and a great space for it. We could not be happier with our experience with Dee and Koala Kids Day Care. Sadly we moved so after two years of wonderful child care we had to move our daughter to a day care that is closer to our new home. Our sweet girl had such an awesome experience with Dee and Olivia, that we occasionally still have Dee take care of her. She's like family now. Our daughter truly blossomed while at Dee's. I was searching for the right daycare for months and found Koala Day Care. It has everything I was looking for, an in home daycare with a small group of children and two great care takers, Dee and Olivia. Most importantly, my 8 month old son loves it! He is smiling and happy when I leave him and when I come to pick him up he could care less that I am there. Having to leave my son in daycare to go back to work was hard, but it makes things so much easier knowing he is being well cared for and is having so much fun. read more
